Her family used to just feed her as a stray, nothing more planned than that. She had a litter of puppies not long after they met her, and somewhere in the middle of showing up with food, day after day, she decided they were hers. A few months later, they made the adoption official. When we asked what she'd tell someone on the fence about adopting, she said you're going to have to deal with your own baggage too, not just the dog's. Some of these dogs once slept on the streets of Manila. Then one day, they walked into an activity center on a leash, beside someone who had chosen them. 🐾 59 dogs. Every one of them a former stray. Every one of them now home. This was STRAY-vivor Family Day, hosted by Baby Doge and PAWS Philippines in celebration of International Homeless Animals’ Day. ➡️ More than 600 people came through the doors. Jodi Sta. Maria shared the story of Putol, a stray who used to show up at her house. One day, she drove away and he ran after the car. He just wouldn’t stop. He’s hers now. Or maybe she’s his. Depends who you ask. Atty. Anna Cabrera, Executive Director of PAWS, put it simply: stray animals are the ones people failed. Rescuers and adopters are the ones who choose to make things right. Nikki Abad spoke about what one adoption can set in motion. A neighbour asks about the dog. A friend comes to visit. And somewhere down the line, another animal gets a chance. ➡️ Together, we brought more than 5,000 bowls of food to PAWS Philippines. ➡️ 18 creators joined us, reaching more than 13 million people altogether. But numbers only tell part of the story. The real story was in the wagging tails, the nervous first steps, the families who showed up, and the dogs who finally got a day that was all about them. There were even pet communicators on site, translating what the dogs had apparently been trying to say all along: 90% love 10% “where are my treats?” 😏 THIS WAS THE BIGGEST EVENT Baby Doge HAS ORGANISED IN THE PHILIPPINES SO FAR.
