In case you missed it - here is the British Bake Off extra slice clip - thoughts? 🤔 I find it especially frustrating when a programme isn’t even live & was prerecorded as it could have been stopped from being aired. Hope we can get this sorted 🙏 #GBBO #Extraslice Coeliac_UK

Big thanks to BBC Morning Live for correcting the mistake before the end of the show. It often takes ages for corrections to happen & whilst its never ideal for incorrect info to be stated - correct info being provided within the same show is amazing. Spelt is NOT gluten free 🙌

Gluten free & Coeliac Disease on TV 🧡 Did you watch it? What did you think? It was amazing to hear from Frankie (who has coeliac disease), Nicola (Frankie’s mum) and also Professor David Sanders, a gastroenterologist and Chair of the Coeliac_UK Health Advisory Council. A fabulous combination of people, able to provide both real life, lived experience and the correct medical information and advice. Thank you This Morning for making sure this happened, it was so important and hopefully will make a difference in many different ways to many different people. In my mind it helped to: 🔸 Raise awareness of what coeliac disease is, what symptoms to look out for (there are more than you might think) and that you should NOT remove gluten from your diet until you have been tested for Coeliac Disease (I hear from thousands of people who have done this either because they thought it was best OR worse still, their doctor recommended them to - this is not correct). It’s so easy to shout, get angry and frustrated when things are misrepresented, misunderstood and spoken about in a dangerous and incorrect way HOWEVER, I find that whilst we are quick to jump on the negatives, we are less quick to show our appreciation when things are done right. Yes, maybe some people might think that it shouldn’t have be spoken about wrongly in the first place (you’re right!) but if it hadn’t of been, we wouldn’t of had this amazing opportunity to raise awareness on TV. So I’m here to say thank you This Morning 🙌 If you didn’t get to watch the piece it will be on catchup in full (it was at about 10:56am for about 9 minutes), if you want more information on coeliac disease then head over to the Coeliac_UK website - the self assessment form is there too & also if you think someone you know might benefit from watching then let them know. Hopefully having 2 gluten free segments on This Morning within a month is the start of more awareness, more improvements and positive changes for the Coeliac & gluten free community 🫶
