also, based on what I think the original intention was before the reshoots/rewrites, I think it’s a sad performance from ncuti too because I think he was supposed to be aware of poppy’s absence and is trying to hide from the pain while trying to reassure ruby that he’s okay…

Honestly I’ve always found this scene a little odd. Like it was written to be the actual Rani reveal but then they added the bigen earlier. It would make sense why Flood/Rani retained their own identities and Flood referred to her other self as “The Mistress” to save the reveal.

I’ll never get over how clearly Mrs Flood was never meant to be The Rani. Dobson was great casting and could’ve been such a good villain in her own right but was weighed down by RTD’s seemingly late decision on her being The Rani then becoming second fiddle to her future self.
