The double standard is impossible to ignore. Burning the Australian flag is framed as “expression,” yet doing the same to other symbols is suddenly unacceptable. Since posting about the IDF bulldozing Australian graves, I’ve been inundated with the usual “you’re antisemitic” and “remember Islam is the real issue” responses. It is worth asking, how is it acceptable for people to condemn an entire religion, yet any criticism of a government or military action instantly gets labelled as hate? Criticising governments and military decisions isn’t racism. It isn’t religious hatred. It’s part of public discourse in a free society. If that double standard makes people uncomfortable, maybe the conversation needs to happen.
