Sheikh Abdirashid Maalim of Masjid Halima in Elwak gives his resignation today in the clip below due to pressure from Mandera County Governor over the Imam's khutbah last week regarding the water crisis in the county. The mosque was built by the Governor's family. The Imam gave the reasons for his resignation, including a requirement that he presents the khutbah for approval/ vetting prior to his reading it, and a requirement that the khutbah shall not be recorded on audio/video. He also said the truth he shared in his Khutbah has been construed as propaganda. This is big shame, scandalous & tyranny. Our Governor forces an Imam to resign because he preaches the truth about the suffering of his people & criticized failures of his administration. Criticizing the county administration is a legal right, both under Islamic law and the country's constitution. May Allah grant the Imam a better opportunity to serve the people.

A farmer friend of mine along River Tana in Garissa tells me sh 55.9 million worth of maize seeds ( not seedlings as Mandera Governor’s accounts indicate) would be enough for nearly 10,000 Ha of farmland in Rhamu, with a yield of 200,000 bags that would fetch the farmers sh 1.3 billion. Clearly, we are paying a price for embracing mediocrity in Mandera! As Kibaki once said, hata kuiba inataka akili!

More evidence of massive looting. The clip on the left is shops opposite Jamia Mosque in CBD cleaned out on Tuesday by protesters. The second clip is part of the shops looted in Eastleigh yesterday. Businesses in many other parts of the country suffered the same fate. More street protests are now untenable!

2007. On the day our KANU chairman Uhuru Kenyatta defamped & joined Mwai Kibaki's PNU alliance, I also resigned as Treasurer, KANU & joined ODM. Went on to become a NEC member of the party. Later, with Dr Julia Ojiambo & Hon Mutula Kilonzo, we initiated & brought together the ODM luminaries which later became the Pentagon. In 2005 referendum, I ran the Chungwa 'No' campaign in NE Kenya which won & from which ODM was founded. Good to see ODM mark it's 20 yrs.

Mandera Governor akarangwa kwa mafuta yake! Sh 55.9 million on seedlings? My hometown of Rhamu on River Dawa with 22,000 Ha of farmland doesn't enjoy free inputs from the County administration. The same County that purports to supply free seedlings charge sh 6,000 per hour for the only plough tractor they have in the subcounty. If they only supported the farmers along River Dawa with inputs, we won't be on famine relief on which they reportedly spent sh 359 million. Akili ni mali!

Somaliland: May Allah guide our brothers! The decision by Somaliland Govt to seek recognition from the settler-colonialists illegal Zionist Israeli regime is a Musiba! A Dhulma against the Muslim Ummah. Not least because the timing is the worst moment in our history when the Zionist regime is committing genocide in Palestine against the defenseless Palestinians.
