Ed Oliver was firing on all cylinders early last season before an ankle injury cut his season short, limiting him to just three games. While he isn’t participating in voluntary OTAs, Oliver has spent time in the film room studying Jim Leonhard’s defense, paying particularly close attention to All-Pro DT Zach Allen. He’s been watching how Allen was utilized in the same role within the scheme and the success he had operating in it. (via Matt Parrino) As Oliver continues working his way back after an injury-filled year that included multiple procedures, the new defense could give him more freedom than he’s had in previous seasons.
