Japanese carpenters have a tradition of always installing wood in the correct direction, root end down and top end up. It has no function other than treating the wood with respect. You would probably not like being installed standing on your head for the rest of your lifespan so why would the wood like it?

Recent video of a female wolf with its pup chasing and growling at a man who was going for a run. The man tried to chase the wolf away by playing music and waving his shirt at the wolf but it just crept closer. In the end the man fled into a cow paddock in an attempt to distract the wolf. This actually worked but probably not like he expected. The cows actually advanced on the wolf and kept it at bay until the man's wife were able to pick him up on a nearby road.

He didn't request a trial by combat because he had already struck a deal with his accusers to confess and be sent to the Nights Watch. When Joffrey orders his execution that was not planned, Cersei and Varys both plea for his life but to no avail. Even if he did demand a trial by combat or would not have mattered as Joffrey would have named Jaime or Sandor Clegane as his champion. Ned could not have defeated either of them at his peak and now he has been stabbed in his leg and starved in a dungeon. He also has no Champion he could call upon because his retinue in the capitol have all been killed and the rest is fighting a war with Robb. Also Cersei holds Sansa as a hostage, one of the primary reasons why he decided to confess was so that Sansa would not be harmed. Even if he would have won he would not have been free from the dungeons, only the accusations of being a traitor. He would still have been held a hostage as long as Robb was marching with his army. Any deal to free him would not have happened until Robb captures Jaime or any equally important hostage but even so with Tywin in command that is unlikely to happen. Lastly you can't blame Ned for feeling cynical over trials by combat. The last Stark to demand a trial by combat in Kings Landing was his father, Rickard Stark. And he was burned alive by the mad king.

Sydney Sweeney spent her holidays and new years eve in Finland, Lapland and posted this video on her Instagram. Finnish Lapland is becoming a popular place for superstars because they can essentially vacation in peace since there is low population density and no paparazzis.

Always a good idea to test how deep you will sink before driving heavy vehicles in a swamp.
