Evacuation… It is very rare to see posts like this, or the faces of those people on Twitter/X, who are leaving their homes against their will, driven by external circumstances-when the fighting is just too close, when the russian is just too close.

You often see lines like: "When will the world finally hear us?", "World, don’t close your eyes," or "Please, don’t stay silent." Last night, the russians struck Zaporizhzhia and Sumy again-as always, brutally and mercilessly, as if we Ukrainians are not human beings, but just a testing ground, a place where they can do whatever they want with impunity, because it’s "war," after all. This morning, I see my people showing the world the horrific footage of another terrible night; as always, only the names of the cities change. And yes, the world sees everything, the world hears, the world is not silent. But what is the point of it all? What can an ordinary person from any European country really do on a global scale? We have already heard every kind of condolence, and every prayer in the world has been addressed to Ukrainians and Ukraine. Half of 2026 is already behind us. Perhaps the world has just grown accustomed to someone else’s pain. Or maybe this war has dragged on so long that everyone is starting to feel hopeless and powerless... Honestly, I don't know anymore. But I do know one thing: silence is not an option. Yet, appealing to the world no longer makes sense-everyone already knows, sees, and hears everything. Every day, each "White Angel" police crew receives up to seven evacuation requests from the residents of Druzhkivka. This time, they successfully evacuated two women. Maria grew up in an orphanage and is now living through her second war (she was only 11 when World War II began). She lived all alone in a house that became uninhabitable after another russian attack. The second woman, 83, also needed rescue: the police had to break down her apartment door with a crowbar, as it had been jammed by the force of a blast.

I don’t really like posting videos or messages like this, but this is the other side of heroism in my country, in Ukraine. The sounds of the national anthem are echoing through our courtyards more and more often. You’ve known someone for a part of your life, and then, suddenly, they are on their final journey. Beside them are relatives, friends, loved ones, and neighbors, seeing them off to a place where, as each of us hopes, things are finally better than they are here. This is the silent pain of the Ukrainian people. It doesn’t seek the spotlight because it is deeply personal. But the world must see not only the brave soldiers who continue to defense of one's own country country, but also those who did everything humanly possible to give the future a chance to live on-without a russian boot on our land.
