...war through the eyes of a Ukrainian 🍂 peaceful sky above. Someday this will become a reality again.

Shorts

Imagine you are driving a car, and a drone strikes you, leaving your vehicle in flames. Your beloved, who was driving, dies right there, burning on the asphalt next to your car... You won't see this happening at home, only in Ukraine. In the village of Pytomnyk in the Kharkiv region, a russian strike UAV attacked a civilian car carrying a man and a woman as they headed to their village. As a result of the strike, the vehicle caught fire. The man behind the wheel died at the scene. The woman managed to escape. The tragedy was captured from the air by aerial reconnaissance personnel of the Ukrainian "Predator" brigade.

The very essence of all the injustice in this world. Why are we, Ukrainians, forced to see this at night in our cities... Why doesn't morning begin with a peaceful sky and the aroma of coffee, or a morning jog, and a sound sleep in our own bed on a day off? But instead like this - evacuating from our home in the middle of the night, with children, due to yet another russian attack. This is one of the many buildings in the city of Odesa tonight. Burning because russia wants it this way.

...this is the heart of Ukraine, Kyiv today, people were just saving their lives, climbing out of a second-floor window, these are the first minutes after the russian strike on the building! People are trying to climb out through the windows, escaping the fire that broke out immediately after the strike. Right now, I'm just restraining myself as much as possible not to write a lot of... a lot of bad words here... russians... only contempt... and hate towards you!

Fuck russia Fuck everyone who supports russia In Marhanets, Dnipropetrovska oblast, children were playing in a playground when the shelling started. Children are playing, and when the shelling starts, they immediately run to their homes to escape. This footage shows the cruel reality that Ukrainian children are forced to live in.

… it is night in Ukraine right now, almost 4 a.m. Ukrainians are underground, those who have such an opportunity in their cities, while others are just in their homes and apartments, hearing, and even watching from their windows, yet another round of nightly explosions and flashes. Some are closer, some are further away, but the explosions are felt with the entire body. As always, the morning will reveal more.

The house I showed you in my last post is still burning. The Russian occupiers are destroying Pokrovsk, burning down house after house. This is the real picture of life in Ukraine here and now. The author of the video is Denis Christov "The Dutchman".

This is not what we Ukrainians would want to see from our windows in winter. It would be better if the voices and laughter of children making snowmen or playing snowballs echoed from the courtyards of residential areas. One could step out onto the balcony and watch that very scene while sipping a warm tea or coffee, rather than the sights we see now. You cannot distract yourself from thoughts of the war for long; it continues, and everything around us tries to remind us of that. Over the years, the brain tries to pretend it has adapted to everything happening around it - to what the ears hear and the eyes see, to the various situations that occur here every day. But sanity is always on guard, and an inner voice says without words: this is not a normal life for a human being; if only everything could return to the way it was before. But is it even possible to return to the life we had, carrying such an experience on our shoulders? … Now, in the "points of warmth," you can see beds. You might ask: are these for overnight stays? The beds are intended for people who need assistance in the event of an emergency or for medical reasons, as well as for temporary rest if a person is in need of it… but people are still forced to return to their apartments.

Kyiv. It is currently minus 15 degrees Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit). Just imagine what the temperature is like in these concrete houses without heating, and how people sleep in them. Currently, 471 buildings in the city are without heating. I see so many videos from the capital shared by Kyiv residents: how they go to bed and how they tuck in their children - all together in one bed, dressed in layers of clothes and buried under a mountain of blankets.

This war is literally squeezing the blood out of Ukraine. What a heavy, horrible night for the entire country, especially for Kyiv. It's just a stunning coincidence how the residents of the capital are greeting this morning, right after yesterday's conversation between Trump and Putin.

There is nothing more terrible than war, and we, Ukrainians, those who stayed in our homes, know this for sure, not from the news. Odesa, a strike on a residential building after sunset.

Evacuation in Ukraine has been and remains an acute problem: every day, families leave their homes and cities due to intensifying shelling. We all occasionally-and with age, more and more often-look back on our childhood. For some, it was happier; for others, it was not as bright. Yet, everyone can recall something in a moment of sadness, while reflecting in solitude, or finding peace in nature. Many children in Ukraine will remember their childhood as a series of upheavals that caught up with them far too soon; for their fragile psyche, it is an unbearable burden. They are left with too many questions: "Why us? Why now? And why did the russians come here and hate us so much?" There will be too many of these "Mom, why," and the answers will only come with age. How do you explain to a child what "war" is? Something that they previously saw only in movies as a form of entertainment, viewed from the safety and comfort of home, has suddenly appeared right outside their window. Explosions sound ever clearer, closer to home, and there is no point in replacing the windows anymore-they are destroyed too often. A child simply packs their small suitcase, packing away their childhood, and along with it, the memories of the years they have lived. The situation is similar for elderly Ukrainians, although they certainly have more answers than children do. Yet, our elderly parents, in their advanced age, become like children themselves; they require our attention, care, and words of love. In most cases, they are very stubborn, making it incredibly difficult to persuade them to leave dangerous cities and villages where war is already at the doorstep. It is important to remember that not everyone has family to turn to. For some, life has distanced them from their loved ones; for others, it is resentment or anger that keeps them apart. Evacuation is about packing a suitcase and setting off on a "journey." But this is no cruise-and this is a journey that brings no happiness.
