Rookie QB Jalen Milroe has been active for four of the Seahawks' five games but has only played three snaps. He's gained 4 yards on three rushes and lost this fumble on an option pitch Sunday. Mike Macdonald said the plan has been, and will continue to be, to play Milroe more.

Seen some people say Zach Charbonnet was only picking up the ball to hand it to an official on Seattle's wild 2-point try. NFL players do not go out of their way to do that. The Seahawks are taught to pick up every loose ball just in case. Charbonnet reiterated as much postgame

One question with Jadarian Price is how much he’ll factor in the passing game. He had only 15 catches over three college seasons, though he played behind a do-it-all back in Jeremiyah Love. Price dropped one throw during rookie camp but otherwise looked fine catching the ball.

Sean McVay called it a "fortuitous bust" that allowed Seattle to stop the Rams on fourth-and-4 late in the NFC Championship game. He was referring to DeMarcus Lawrence dropping into coverage. Said Lawrence today: "Fortuitous bust? Yeah man, I’ll take it. I’ll take it all day."

Here was Sam Darnold jogging onto the practice field yesterday, two days before the NFC Championship Game. Brings to mind how Mike Macdonald has described his QB in these terms a bunch of times this season: “The same guy every day.”

Olu Oluwatimi, who took over at center for the Seahawks after Connor Williams' retirement, had a perfect pass block win rate in his first start of 2024. ESPN Research credited him with 27 wins/zero losses on qualifying pass-block plays. Here was one of his wins on the last drive.

Charles Cross was helped off the field after Jason Myers’ game-winner. He wasn’t in for the kneel-down. Mike Macdonald declined to specify the injury on Seattle Sports. Sounds like Cross is being evaluated. “We’ll see with Charles. We’re going through it right now with him.”

The Seahawks will get the newly-extended Charles Cross back for the playoffs. Josh Jones filled in the last three games and played about as well as you could expect a backup OT to play, especially given the circumstances Saturday night. He played through knee and ankle injuries.

The Seahawks will get Julian Love (four missed games) and Devon Witherspoon (five) back post-bye. Nick Emmanwori (three and most of a fourth) also missed time. Despite the injuries in their secondary, their defense is allowing 18.6 PPG (T-6th). Guys like Ty Okada stepped up.

Asked about not going with the AJ Barner tush push on first-and-goal from the 1 on the opening drive Saturday, Mike Macdonald said they probably should have. Instead, they called a pass play that resulted in Sam Darnold taking an 11-yard sack. Ultimately turned it over on downs.

Rashid Shaheed played 21 of 62 offensive snaps in his Seahawks debut (perhaps a bit less than he would've in a closer game). He gained 23 yards on three touches -- 10 on an end-around, 3 on a quick screen (his only target) and 10 on a toss play where he lined up in the backfield.

On his Seattle Sports radio show with Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman, Seahawks GM John Schneider described newly-added RB Emanuel Wilson as a "230-pound guy with great feet." "He gives us a little bit something different. He’s a heavy runner, and [we’re] excited about him."

Per NFL Next Gen Stats, Seahawks CB Josh Jobe allowed one catch for 7 yards on three targets as the nearest defender yesterday, with a pass defensed. Through two games: eight targets, two catches for 8 yards, an INT and another PD. That's a passer rating allowed of 0.0.

Nick Emmanwori has become Seattle's primary nickelback in Devon Witherspoon's absence. The rookie safety played over 90% of the snaps last night for a second straight game after 64% playing time in Week 5, when he returned from his ankle injury. One of his two PBUs vs. Houston:

The Vikings blitzed Sam Darnold on 60% of his dropbacks and sacked him four times as Seattle struggled with their pressure. Also an issue on a few of their four batted passes at the line. Mike Macdonald: "We could be in some different plays, some different protections on those."

Mike Macdonald went out of his way to mention how well DT Byron Murphy II played yesterday. "He was absolutely dominant. Probably singlehandedly won us a football game on defense. He absolutely played lights out. I know I didn't answer your question, but it's worth mentioning.”

Nick Emmanwori couldn't hang on to what would've been his first career interception on this third-and-5 play yesterday. Still some tremendous coverage by the 220-pound DB against a premier receiver, and an example of how much the Seahawks are putting on the rookie's plate.

Here was Cooper Kupp on the text message he got from Ernest Jones IV after the two ex-Rams helped the Seahawks beat their former team. As Kupp was considering signing with Seattle last offseason, Jones told him they were “on the cusp.” He texted Kupp Sunday night: “I told you.”

Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak had six head-coaching interviews during Seattle’s bye week. “They were good conversations,” he said. “Very flattered for that opportunity. But we’ve worked our entire season, our whole lives for games like this. This is the most important thing.”

Here was Seahawks RB Ken Walker III at his presser just now. He’s off to Disneyland today, as is customary for the Super Bowl MVP. “I’ve never been to Disney before,” he told us afterwards. “I watch Disney though.” He said he hasn’t slept and that it’s “still surreal.”

Rookie D-lineman Rylie Mills got the first sack of his career in Super Bowl LX, and it came on an overpowering bull-rush. “I just ran through his face and then got to the quarterback,” he said. Mills missed most of the regular season while recovering from a college ACL tear.

Rylie Mills said he feels back to his pre-injury form. Seattle’s second-year DT tore his ACL in December of 2024, made his NFL debut in Week 15 then got his first sack in SBLX in dominant fashion. “I’ve watched it a couple times,” he said of the play. “Maybe more than a couple.”

Jalen Milroe seems to be a lot more like Russell Wilson than Geno Smith in this sense: he doesn’t get too high or too low. Here he was talking to John Boyle about his first start. He said the fumbles, like any QB turnover, were on him. “I’ve got to be better with ball security.”

Cooper Kupp is from Yakima, a city in eastern Washington known for its apple production. The veteran receiver returned to his home state in March when he signed with the Seahawks, then helped them with the Super Bowl — the second of his career. “How ‘bout them apples, huh?”

Cooper Kupp, who turns 33 this month, was asked whether he thought about going out on top after the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win. “Never for a second,” he said. “I’m loving playing this game too much.” Here was Kupp on his mindset coming off the second championship of his career:

Nick Emmanwori was on the field for 70 of 71 defensive snaps and finished with five tackles while playing on an ankle sprain he suffered Wednesday. Here he was detailing what it took to play, including time in a hyperbaric chamber. “Had to be out there for my boys.”

The Seahawks entered the draft with a league-low four picks. Here was John Schneider on how they made four trades — including a move into the fifth for G Beau Stephens — to end up with eight players. Also, enjoy Schneider and Mike Macdonald quoting “Major League.”

Lawrence said it was instinct that compelled him to peel off on Kyren Williams and not rush. He explained that with Julian Love showing blitz and Williams not hesitating out of the backfield, he anticipated Stafford would throw hot to the back. That is where the QB looked first.

The Seahawks refer to theirs as the 70-man roster, not 53. They include the practice squad — except they call it the ready squad. It’s GM John Schneider’s way of underscoring the need for everyone to contribute and be ready to step in. Here was Mike Macdonald yesterday on that.

Ernest Jones IV believes the next step for Nick Emmanwori can come in “the classroom” in terms of diagnosing plays before they happen. Emmanwori, who was second in voting for Defensive Rookie of the Year, said something similar when asked about taking a jump in his second season.
