"This legislation builds on our commitment to improve public safety, reduce gun violence, uphold our freedom," Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said before he signed SB-003 into law on Thursday. Starting August 1, 2026, the law will ban the sale or purchase of certain semiautomatic firearms with detachable magazines.
