Zhenhao Zou, 28, was a wealthy Chinese PhD student living in a ยฃ4,000-a-month penthouse overlooking London, but behind his designer clothes, Rolex and charming persona was a sexual predator who detectives believe may have targeted dozens of women. Known as Pakho, Zou was jailed for life on June 19, 2025, with a minimum term of 24 years after being convicted of 28 offences, including 11 rapes against 10 women. Born in Dongguan, Guangdong, he came to Northern Ireland in 2017 to study mechanical engineering at Queenโs University Belfast before moving to University College London for a master's degree and PhD. In London, he lived in a two-bedroom apartment on the 39th floor of the UNCLE tower in Elephant and Castle. He wore luxury watches and designer clothes and presented himself online as a successful student. The investigation began in November 2023 when a woman reported Zou to police, saying he had raped her after an evening of drinking. Two days later, he flew to China. When he returned in January 2024 and was arrested at his London apartment. Inside, detectives found hidden cameras and 1,270 videos containing more than 1,660 hours of footage, including 58 recordings of rapes. They also discovered around nine million WeChat messages, GHB, Xanax, ketamine and MDMA. A yellow box contained 21 items police believed were taken from victims, including lipstick, earrings, hairbands, a sock, a fridge magnet and house keys. Zou was convicted on March 5, 2025, of 28 offences including 11 rapes of 10 women, false imprisonment, voyeurism, possession of extreme pornography and possession of a controlled drug with intent to commit a sexual offence. The rapes involved three attacks in London and seven in China between 2019 and 2023. Prosecutors said Zou met women through WeChat, Red Note and Bumble, inviting them to his apartment before encouraging them to consume alcohol and drugs until they were unconscious or unable to resist. He filmed the attacks using hidden cameras and phones. During one assault, he told a woman who fought back that resistance was pointless and that the apartment had very good sound insulation. In court, Zou insisted the women had consented. The jury rejected his account. Sentencing him, Judge Rosina Cottage KC told him: "You appear to the world to be a very well-to-do man. You are also a sexual predator." The judge concluded that Zou had no understanding of the meaning of consent and posed a danger for an indefinite period. But the investigation did not end with his conviction. Women have since come forward in Britain and China, while detectives believe there could be dozens more victims. This month, officers sent the Crown Prosecution Service a new file concerning further offences. Police have released photographs of items recovered from Zou's apartment in the hope victims will recognise them. Some women whose images and videos remain on his devices may still have no idea they were filmed. African Migrant Attempts To Behead Local Man In North Belfast. In a deeply disturbing and horrific scene straight out of a horror movie, a local man was repeatedly slashed in the neck in what witnesses are describing as a barbaric attempt to behead him on a residential street in North Belfast moments ago. The attack took place on Kinnaird Avenue shortly after 10.30pm. Locals were forced to intervene to stop the sustained and savage attack. Graphic video footage circulating online shows the victim on the ground, with the attacker, described by multiple witnesses as an African migrant, straddling him and making repeated slicing motions with a blade to the neck and head area. Bystanders can be heard screaming, with one shouting about the attacker cutting his head off as blood visibly pooled on the pavement. The suspect, in a frenzied state and shouting rhythmic chants in a foreign language continued the assault even as locals intervened to stop him. Police Service of Northern Ireland officers arrived and arrested the man at the scene. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition. No updates on his identity have been released, but he is understood to be a local man from the area. A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: "Police in north Belfast are currently in attendance at Kinnaird Avenue following the report of a stabbing incident shortly after 10.30pm on Monday 8th June. A man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is in police custody while a second man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries." Ashraful Islam, 21, of Kings Avenue, Chippenham, has been sentenced after police found hundreds of indecent images of children on his phone. Nearly 350 images were classified as Category A, the most serious category, after officers seized the phone during an investigation into an unrelated matter in March 2026. Police also discovered videos showing schoolgirls being upskirted. Islam pleaded guilty to taking indecent images of children and voyeurism when he appeared in court on September 10. The images were uncovered during a forensic examination of his phone, with Wiltshire Police's digital forensics team identifying the scale of the material. Serial Sex Attacker Simon Levy Handed Whole-Life Order After Murdering Two Women & Raping Another. A serial sex attacker who turned Londonโs streets and Tube stations into his personal hunting grounds will never walk free again after a judge condemned him to die behind bars. Simon Levy, 40, was today handed a whole-life order at the Old Bailey for the sexually motivated murders of grandmother Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, and mother-of-four Sheryl Wilkins, 39, both murdered in 2025. He was also given concurrent life sentences with a 12-year minimum for the violent rape and assault of a third woman earlier that year. Judge Mark Lucraft KC, told the killer he was "clearly someone who ruthlessly exploits others for your own personal sexual satisfaction" and someone with a morbid fascination with sex, rape, and crime. Levy, who wore dark glasses throughout the hearing, showed no emotion as the judge declared: "You will be in prison for life." The rare whole-life term, reserved for the most heinous offenders means Levy will never be eligible for parole. There are less than 100 such prisoners in the entire system. Levyโs reign of terror escalated from opportunistic groping on packed trains to cold-blooded murder. In January 2025 he lured a vulnerable woman to a Tottenham car park, raped her, broke her collarbone, and smothered her until she lost consciousness. She survived and later told police she knew where her attacker lived. She was not properly interviewed until after two more women had been killed. In March he murdered Colombian grandmother Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in a stairwell on the Aylesbury Estate in south-east London. Five months later, while still free on bail as a suspect in that killing, he struck again, smothering Sheryl Wilkins behind a wall near Tottenham High Road, in the same car park where he had left his earlier victim for dead. In court Levyโs surviving victim described him as a monster and a parasite. "He took away my soul that night and he took away my dignity," she said, describing the attack as worse than the trafficking she had previously endured. Sheryl Wilkinsโs sister Lindsey Hicks sobbed as she addressed Levy directly: "You, Simon Levy, have destroyed our lives and we will never ever get over this." She added that she hoped he would rot in prison. Carmenzaโs daughter Nazly Johana Fuenmayor Valencia spoke of an emptiness that can never be filled and a world "ripped apart." Levyโs history of sexual violence stretches back years. Convicted in 2021 for assaults in 2018, he went on to assault a female prison officer while inside. After release he launched a campaign of attacks on the Tube, later convicted of 11 sexual assaults on public transport. Police recovered press cuttings and internet material showing his disturbing obsession with rape and sexual crime. Despite this history he was repeatedly released on bail. Delays in identification parades, failures to oppose bail robustly, the return of a stolen travelcard that let him roam free, and a downgrade of his risk level all left him at large. The Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police and Crown Prosecution Service have all admitted a collective system failure. One senior Met officer has acknowledged that Sheryl Wilkinsโs murder could have been prevented. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is now investigating the Metโs handling of Levy as a registered sex offender from his 2021 conviction through to his final arrest in 2025. A police constable is facing a gross misconduct investigation and a detective sergeant is under a misconduct probe over alleged failures in how they managed the dangerous offender.
