I don't specifically recall EVER seeing the eyewall features of any tropical cyclone appearing to be *flashing* like a strobe light like this! The speed of rotation within the eyewall is so fast that each time the satellite image updates, each eyewall feature is in a totally different place, and this gives us the strobe light effect. This is truly awe-inspiring to witness. This is pushing the physical limits of how strong a storm can possibly get on the face of this planet.

Heads-up, Kingston- you have a pretty nasty squal line about to move in. Any preparations you are doing now, make sure you're ready for this line of storms. You should get a break afterwards though, before later more storms of course move back in.

I really try to save my "doom and gloom" posts for only the most deserving moments when I feel like they are justified. Now is one of those moments. The structure that is rapidly beginning to appear on visible satellite is a harbinger of bad things to come. Minimal hurricane now appears to be a best-case scenario, in my opinion. History tells us over and over again that tiny storms with good structure, hot water, good outlfow (little to no shear), and even a day or so over water can explode from nothing into major hurricanes in 24 hours, especially over the Gulf of Rapid Intensification. Not saying it will happen here for sure, but I now expect at least a cat 1, maybe cat 2 at some point out of this. If you want to call me a fear mongerer, go ahead. Let's just watch how this unfolds. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Sorry about so many updates, but this is happening so fast that I want to stay on top of it in real time. The signature that we are seeing on satellite is extremely concerning. If it doesn't fade away in another hour or so, let's give it till 10:00 PM Eastern Time, then we need to start looking at whatever really crazy model runs are out there that initiate this storm somewhere in this small area where this convective blow-up is and then ramp it up really quickly, because there's a decent chance that that model run could be correct.
