I finally found Windy the feral mare after 4 more hrs of searching!! Fricken hell, she was in the thick bush & finally answered me! She’s not limping anymore which is GREAT to see! You can see how skittish she is when I backed into a tree branch & broke it. Ready to rumble!

Black bear encounter with Windy the feral mare! Leading us back to camp she stopped, looked & wouldn’t go any further but wouldn’t leave us. You can hear her snorting & when I looked into the thick bush, I saw a black bear walking away. Always trust horse sense!!

Yesterday I found Windy, the feral mare, & brought her some hay & treats. Snow is up to 14” deep in spots & damn, it takes some effort to pull that toboggan uphill. She’s a happy horse!

Yesterday was a rainy trip to camp to fix Windy’s waterer. It’s the feral mare’s only source of water once the snow is gone. The heat tape failed & the pipe was frozen down 5’. Got it thawed & working.
