ATTN DRIVERS: Snow removal efforts are continuing on U.S. 395 this morning. Last night's storm dropping a decent amount of snow in the Sierra. Once we have more information about a reopening of the highway, or escorts between communities, we'll update our social media channels.

Caltrans will be escorting travelers on U.S. 395 between Lee Vining and the junction with SR 167 beginning tomorrow. No additional escorts will be offered as crews will be continuing to work to fully reopen the road. Escort schedule: •7 am to 8:30 am •3:30 pm to 5 pm

Because the snow over Sonora Pass is so deep, Caltrans District 9 maintenance crews are using a snow cat to push the snow from above to the road below where the snow blowers can clear it from the highway. This method reduces the snow depth, allowing the snow blowers to push through.
