The switch to snow has already begun and chain controls are active along I-80. As of 3:45 p.m. Chains are required for all vehicles except 4WD/AWD with snow tires, EB Kingvale to Truckee, WB Donner Lake Interchange to Rainbow. Minimum restrictions for trucks.

With warmer weather and rain predicted tomorrow, crews anticipate unstable snow conditions near Emerald Bay. For the safety of the traveling public State Route 89 will remain closed for an extended period. ETO is 6 p.m. Thursday 2/26.
