Today a far right protest is expected to take place outside a hotel housing asylum seekers in Bristol Let me be clear: the far right are not welcome in Bristol. They don’t represent us, or what we stand for But I also want to be clear about what’s driving this wave of unrest...

I was heckled by another MP while asking about inclusive relationship education in schools Sickened but not really surprised that homophobia is alive and well on the bench behind me 'They're primary school kids' he says - as if no primary school kids have lesbian or gay parents!

This "debate" about who should use what toilet doesn’t benefit anyone. It doesn’t fix the underfunding of women's refuges, NHS waiting lists leaving women in terrible pain, mums skipping meals to feed their kids. How about we get on with tackling the real issues affecting women?

I just voted against proscribing Palestine Action, a civil disobedience group, as a terrorist organisation. But I'm furious that in doing so, the government forced me and others to vote against proscribing two other clearly terrorist groups. Cynical and dangerous from govt.

This morning The Green Party has called for the EHRC’s harsh and ill-considered guidance on single-sex spaces to be withdrawn. As it stands the guidance puts trans people at risk of discrimination and violence and clearly hasn’t been drawn up with trans people’s input. I’ll be pushing for better

I know that, like me, many of you will be feeling fearful this morning. So on this dark day, we stand in solidarity with all those who dreaded this moment and must now live with its consequences, including those in Gaza and in Ukraine. The struggle for truth, peace, and justice goes on. I recommit myself and my party to that struggle this morning. The politics of hatred will not win. Together, we will go forward with a renewed sense of connection with all those around the world who feel shaken by this election result but determined to continue to defend what matters: to build a safe, just, and inclusive green future. Together we curse the darkness, yes, but we also light candles, to mark our unity and the shared power of radical hope that comes from resistance: resistance to Trump, resistance to fascism, and resistance to all those who seeks to divide us. #USElection2024

Trans people are so often excluded from decisions made about them. I am concerned the puberty blockers trial has been paused not for clinical reasons, nor because govt listened to trans people's constructive concerns about how it will be run, but as a political decision...

For the vast majority of people (except Ukrainians and Hongkongers) there is NO WAY to claim asylum in the UK without coming by small boat The only way to stop people making dangerous boat crossings to the UK is by creating safe and managed routes Govt's plan is delusional

It's time to start telling the truth about asylum hotels: Destitute people are being stuffed into cramped shared rooms with no privacy, forced to live on £9.95 a week because the last govt deliberately created this crisis Immigration is not the problem - it's inequality

Oh look, Robert Jenrick is talking absolute nonsense about migration again Here's what he doesn't want you to know: Migration is good for this country - the real problem is that his govt destroyed our public services Time to break up the Home Office and fund our communities

Free car parking is fundamentally a subsidy to a businesses' better paid employees - when they're not giving free bus tickets to their cleaners. The proposed workplace parking levy for Bristol will improve public transport, cut down on congestion & reduce emissions in our city.

I asked Bristolians how much they're forking out on rent. The answer? Too much! It's time for the govt to give regions the power to control rents and stop landlords ripping off their tenants So I'm calling for #RentControls to be included in the Devolution Bill this week.

I challenged Labour MP Mike Tapp on the government's harmful proposed immigration reforms. In response he tried to tell me what my *own* constituents think about immigration 🤔 Sooooo, I dug up the receipts on what the people of Bristol Central actually think 🧾👀
