To be honest, throughout the entire filming process, I was only thinking about one thing: whether it was his gaze, his body language, or the way he expressed himself, it couldn’t feel ‘greasy’ or off-putting. So every time I finished a take, I would ask the colleagues around me. Because our director and I are both men—we don’t really understand this sort of thing from a woman’s perspective. So our executive producer, the producers, and my team would ask all the women on set every day: when they watched him in the drama, did anything feel like he was deliberately trying to act cool or charming? Did he ever seem like he was putting himself in a superior position? But on set, the director and I actually always put ourselves in the lower position. We kept asking, ‘Does this feel greasy? Is this okay?’ Ultimately, we still had to make sure that female viewers felt comfortable. Only then would they not be pulled out of the story. #JingBoran #TheEarlySpring #早春晴朗 The more I hear Jing Boran talk about how he understands Luke, the more I appreciate him as an actor 😭 When asked whether Luke is the typical “domineering CEO” archetype, Jing Boran said: “He really isn’t a domineering CEO. What I wanted to portray was simply an ordinary person—a refined man with flaws. I’m portraying a human being, not some image of a perfect man. With this character, you naturally get to see many of his selfish sides. We brought so many of his flaws back into the story precisely so everyone could see them, and then accompany him as he grows. We created a flawed, imperfect character, and through that, built an emotional bridge between the character and the audience. Only then can the audience eventually embrace him and grow together with him. It’s just that people tend to categorize this kind of character as a ‘domineering CEO’…” And then after explaining ALL THAT so seriously he basically gave up 😭: “But I also think… whatever. If you want to call him a domineering CEO, then so be it.” 😭😭😭 I love that he cared so much about making Luke feel like an actual human being rather than an idealized male archetype… only to end with “fine, call him whatever you want” LMAO.
