Hundreds Join President Chamisa and Family in Burying Their Sister in Bikita West Today 2nd August 2026, hundreds of family members, Bikita West residents, and mourners from across Zimbabwe and from South Africa gathered at Musukwa village in Ward 11 to lay to rest Memory Rumbidzai Chamisa, sister of President Nelson Chamisa. The sombre yet celebratory burial service took place at the Chamisa family homestead, following the arrival of her body from South Africa yesterday. Speaking at the graveside, President Chamisa eulogised his sister as a deeply loving and empathetic woman whose warmth touched countless lives. Speaker after speaker echoed his sentiments, paying tribute to Memory’s quiet but impactful works within her community and beyond. Memory passed away in South Africa on 18th July 2026 after a prolonged illness. Born on 11th March 1980, she leaves behind her beloved children. The burial service was masterfully emceed by Emmanuel Chikaponya, former Deputy Mayor of Norton Town Council, who guided the proceedings with dignity and solemnity. The village head, Sabhuku Makomo under Chief Marozva, took the podium to express profound gratitude to the hundreds who had made the journey to support the grieving family. He noted that such overwhelming solidarity meant everything to the Chamisa household and urged the community to continue fostering unity and mutual care among themselves. Masvingo City Deputy Mayor Daniel Mberikunashe also addressed the mourners, recalling Memory’s remarkable sociability and her genuine affection for others. He stated that her ability to connect with people from all walks of life was why she was so widely adored. The funeral was attended by a broad cross-section of community leaders, friends, and relatives, including delegates from South Africa. Among those present were Honourable Martin Mureri (Masvingo Urban), Honourable Amos Chibaya (Gweru), Honourable John Kuka (Mkoba South), Coban Madzivanyika (Mbizo, Kwekwe), Honourable Bekezela Maplanka (Bulimia, Matebeleland South), Kudakwashe Bhadharai (Bikita West), Godfrey Madzikanda, and Chaplain Sarah Mwatenga, alongside numerous other mourners who came to pay their final respects to a woman remembered for her kindness and grace.

They Rejected Chamisa — Now They Are Using His Playbook The opposition in Zimbabwe have secretly adopted the strategic ambiguity. Strategic ambiguity is the deliberate practice of withholding or limiting information about an organisation's plans, leadership, or operations in order to create uncertainty for opponents and reduce their ability to interfere. This strategy has been used by opposition organizations in Zimbabwe because of the government's oppressiveness. They only contact journalists privately a few minutes before a scheduled press conference. Under normal circumstances, press conferences, public gatherings and rallies are announced at least 24 hours in advance to prepare followers (listeners) as well as the media. Under opposition leader and 2023 presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa's strategy, the opposite applied. Press conferences and public gatherings were deliberately kept secret, and journalists were contacted only a few minutes before the event. This strategy appeared to work well during the period leading up to the 2023 elections. Compared with previous elections, opposition leaders and prominent supporters faced fewer pre-emptive arrests and disruptions of campaign activities, suggesting that the strategy helped reduce the state's ability to target them. Its subsequent adoption by leaders who had previously criticized Chamisa and his methods suggests that the approach had strategic value. The fragmented opposition leaders, despite aligning with known ZANU-PF apologists and each forming their own organizations, have failed over the past two years to mobilize supporters to stage even a single demonstration or mount meaningful opposition against CAB 3. Their activities have largely been confined to the digital space, where much of their energy has been spent attacking their former leader, Chamisa. Beyond this, the roughly ten leaders have periodically gathered for press conferences in bushy, secluded locations. Social media has it that these opposition outfits are funded by Chiwenga, the 2017 coup hero who now faces political relegation. If CAB 3 succeeds, his already slim prospects of ever becoming President could be irreversibly diminished. Such an allegiance may also explain the ineffectiveness these opposition leaders have displayed in opposing CAB 3. A relationship with a ZANU-PF faction has created a false sense of security, making them less disciplined and less vigilant about operational security. It may also have exposed them to infiltration by individuals whose ultimate loyalty remained with ZANU-PF rather than the opposition. This, in turn, could help explain the pattern of surprise arrests involving some opposition leaders. The internet is replete with reports of police raiding homes and allegedly discovering campaign flyers and other incriminating material hidden under beds, inside wardrobes, and in other unlikely places, suggesting that security agencies may have been acting on prior intelligence. This explain why these opposition leaders appeared less concerned about operational security. Believing they enjoyed protection from a ZANU-PF faction, they may have become complacent, making it easier for individuals whose loyalty remained with ZANU-PF to infiltrate their organisations and leak information about their activities.

“ZANU Haidyirwi Musaga” - Chamisa Denies Bribe Allegations Who has been fighting against its enactment, and to what extent did they succeed? And how have I fought them? So you must also be very clear that at times don't listen too much to failed people who sell you their failed and soiled propaganda about Nelson Chamisa. Who has fought Mnangangwa and succeeded better than I have done? I defeated Mnangangwa twice in 2018, caters of the citizens, and 2023. And nobody has done that. Nobody has that record. So how do they then come and say they are better off? And the men I defeated, and the men who have taken everything away from me, is the men I have sold out. But of course, people can say whatever they want to say. My record speaks for itself. That's why people have confidence in us. They know that we are consistent. For the three decades I've been in this fight and in the trenches, I've never taken a scent of ZANU pill. Zanu haidyirwi musaga You must understand that. When ZANU bribes you, they will advertise you. And those who have taken money from ZANU know. But for me to be accused when I have scars and wounds because of this tyranny and dictatorship is regrettable. But of course, it comes from my detractors who have never supported us. So yes, they will always say that because they hope that they will detach us from the people. But we're not in people's minds or people's lips. We are in people's hearts. We can't be taken away from the people's hearts.

Macheso’s Band Member Dies After Shrine Visit, Family Couldn’t Raise $50 It is heartbreaking to think that while luxury cars are handed out to individuals, ordinary citizens are left to struggle for the most basic, life-saving support Last year, Alick Macheso was among those who received cars from ZANU-PF through Wikknel Chivayro. While such donations may be presented as empowering artists, one cannot help but wonder: could that money have been used to purchase ambulances and equip medical facilities across the country, services that would benefit everyone? Just months later, tragedy struck. Macheso’s band member, Banabas Mandipota, died under deeply troubling circumstances. A family member revealed that they struggled desperately to raise just $50 for transport to rush him for help. Instead of accessing proper medical care, precious time was lost. He was eventually taken to a prophet’s shrine, then brought back home, where he sadly passed away. What does this say about the state of a nation, where people no longer trust hospitals enough to turn to them in times of crisis? In this video, the family shared that, apart from a toothache, he had swollen neck, whitish wounds on his neck and complained that his legs felt cold, stabbing pains in the side(mabayo), symptoms that, in a functioning healthcare system, could have been urgently assessed and treated. In many countries, an ambulance would arrive within minutes. Lives would be saved. But in Zimbabwe, a man lost his life over $50.

Sikhala’s uncle handed the car keys to Tinashe Mpofu, the young brother of Zimbabwean Nigel Sibanda, after Mpofu joined the meeting at a later stage. This happened after Mpofu refused to let Sikhala go outside, insisting that he was a respected politician and could not simply walk out in the rain. Video by Channel Africa According to Job Sikhala, this is what led to the incident that resulted in his arrest. He claims that ZANU PF is behind the explosives and says Sibanda is working for the regime. Sikhala also said, the explosives were ready to explode by the time they were discovered by the police. He also said that it was obvious that the police had been tipped off because they knew exactly where the explosives were as they went straight to search bwhind his seat first. Sikhala says he is confident with the justice system of South Africa and is eagerly waiting for the trial and ultimately the verdict.
