For years, youth organizers across Chicago, including the leaders at GoodKids MadCity, have been organizing, advocating, and showing what becomes possible when we trust young people. By investing in peer mentoring and youth-led peacekeeping, we are investing in safer communities—not only in the future, but right now.

Percolator, Can You Feel It, Brighter Days, Altered States, Devotion, Jack Your Body, the Whistle Song… Chicago is the birthplace of house music, and house is the soundtrack to our soul, so I had to join the 40,000 strong at the Chosen Few Picnic and Festival today. 🧵

Driving down violent crime and investing in the necessary resources to forge lasting community safety has been the primary focus of my administration, these first three years.

A millionaire's tax in Illinois would relieve working Chicagoans' property taxes and help fully fund our public schools.

Chicago will continue to have a "violence problem" as long as Red states continue to have a gun problem. The endless flow of illegal guns into Chicago can be traced to Red states like Mississippi, Indiana, and Louisiana. It is up to the federal government to step up and stop interstate gun trafficking networks.

Sometimes, police are not the right fit for someone going through a mental or emotional crisis. Now, Chicago's Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement program (CARE) is available city-wide when you call 911 and request mental health professionals to respond to someone in mental or emotional crisis.

I don't believe in monsters and ghouls, but I do believe the ultra-wealthy and big corporations should pay their fair share in taxes so we can invest in our communities.

Today, I signed an executive order establishing the strictest, most robust regulatory framework for data center development of any city in the country. Chicago is open to innovation and investment, but it must be done responsibly, transparently, and in partnership with the communities most impacted by rapid development.

I'm old enough to remember that the struggles of Soweto in South Africa and the Favelas in Brazil are interconnected with the struggles of Cabrini-Green on the North Side of Chicago.

They picked a fight with the wrong city. Chicago has been through worse than this before and we will come out of this federal invasion stronger and more united. Whether you are the descendant of slaves or immigrants, you belong in the greatest freakin city in the world.

I will not balance our budget on the backs of working people at a time when they're waiting in lines for food and corporate profit margins are at all-time highs.

We're only going to pass our Fair Share Budget if we get active, Chicago. I need YOU to visit your alderpeople and speak with your community about why it's critical for us to invest in youth jobs, affordable housing, behavioral and mental health resources, and anti-violence programs in order to continue building the safest, most affordable big city in America.

The Bears belong in Chicago. Ours is still the best, and only, plan for a publicly-owned stadium that enables them to stay on the most-visited stretch of land in all of Illinois.

It's boneheaded to believe that you can build safer and more affordable cities by filling up prisons, rather than investing in communities.

There's no good reason to incentivize the Bears to leave the top tourist destination in Illinois or to gift them property tax reprieve when they already don't pay property taxes on a publicly-owned stadium. The Bears belong in downtown Chicago.

What do the billionaires have to be upset about? There are cranes in the air, the city is safer, we have the busiest airport in the world, but they're mad because they have to wait in a longer line to get to me. I prioritize giving my time to working people.
