There were times at sea when I wouldn't see the light of day or smell fresh air for more than a few days. Between working below decks and standing watch it was inevitable. When I finally got some respite from the chaos I would decompress on the fantail. Just relax, take in the majesty of the sea and listen to the sounds of the ship as it passes thru the water. Ships are meant for the sea and sailors are meant for those ships. I loved it. Sometimes I hated it. But I have no regrets and wouldn't change those experiences for the world.
