The recent beheadings of 70 Christians in a church in the DRC is not an isolated incident. There is a continent wide war being waged by Jihadists against Christians in Africa. Each year, thousands of Christians are murdered, raped, kidnapped and beheaded for their faith, burned inside in their churches across the continent. The world must act now to stop this brutality.

At a time when Europe’s future hangs in the balance, its two most senior Christian leaders – the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, and the head of the Church of England, Archbishop Justin Welby – have abandoned their most sacred duty to protect and defend the values of the Bible. The world is locked in a civilizational battle of values, threatened by terrorism and violent jihad. Now is the time for religious leaders to come to the defense of society, to speak up for Western values and freedoms. Instead, Pope Francis and the Anglican Archbishop are silent: indifferent to the murder of Christians in Africa and to the threat of terrorism throughout Europe, and outright hostile to Israel’s attempts to battle these Jihadi forces led by Iran.

Today the world is safer for every human being on earth because a murderous Jihadi regime - the Islamic Republic of Iran - is being stopped. Stopped in its building of nuclear weapons and long-range ballistic missiles. Stopped in oppressing the Iranian people and spreading terror across the world. Stopped in perpetrating another Holocaust of the Jews. To view what is happening merely in military and political terms would be a mistake. It is Biblical.

The Trump Administration’s policy to focus on white-Afrikaners by offering them refugee status in the United States, now supported by a bill just introduced into Congress, falls into the same trap as the ANC does—understanding South Africa as a conflict between black and white. By making this about race the Trump administration plays into the hands of the ANC, who are most comfortable in fighting on that terrain but who would have been totally wrong-footed had the Trump administration made the issue about common values. We need to move beyond the politics of race and toward the politics of shared values. Black and white South Africans share common ground on the basic values of faith in God, family, hard work, decency, respect, rule of law. South Africa is essentially a moderate, center-right, conservative society where the bulk of people share many of the values that are common to Trump’s own supporters in America. #Trump #SouthAfrica #SharedValues #ChiefRabbi
