UNVEILING TRAGEDY of MANIPUR CONFLICT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF EVENTS IN THE MANIPUR ETHNIC POGROM, 2023 WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 2023 (I) Lamka, District- Churachandpur District, Police Station- Churachandpur Police Station. 1. At around 10:30a.m, in Lamka Public ground, Kuki-Zo tribals from across the district came together in large numbers for the peace rally organized by the All Tribal Student Union Manipur(ATSUM) against the Meiteis demand for Scheduled Tribe Status. The rally ended at around 1-1:30p.m and the crowd had dispersed and returned to their respective homes and localities. 2. At around 2:00 p.m, Meitei miscreants burned the pillar of the Anglo-Kuki War Centenary Gate in Leisang Vaiphei village destroying some stone inscriptions which were prevented by few locals. CLARIFICATION ON MY RECENT STATEMENT ON SHIROI LILY FESTIVAL Hi, This is Mr Paojakhup Guite, President Kuki Students Organisation Delhi & NCR Regarding my recent viral statement over the Shirui Lily Festival, I would like to clarify that my remarks were misinterpreted. I stated that the festival appears to be a covert attempt by certain civil society organizations to encroach upon demarcated buffer zones, which I oppose. My primary concern was maintaining peace and stability in the state, ensuring safety for all communities, particularly women and children. Given the volatile situation and reports of potential confrontation, my statement was aimed at restraining and protecting, not inciting any form of violence. Given this volatile situation, I feared for our lives and advocated for maintaining buffer zones to ensure peace and stability. Allowing those who have looted sophisticated weapons to operate freely poses a significant threat to our lives. Specifically, the Arambai Tenggol and VBIGs, with their arsenal of over 6,000 looted arms and 600,000 rounds of ammunition, could disrupt the existing peace and stability in the region, potentially sparking widespread violence. My statement was a measured and cautionary message to prevent further escalation and safeguard everyone irrespective of communities and belongings. Buffer zones are crucial for peace, and that I urge caution to prevent escalation. Notably, several Kuki Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have clarified that there is no coordinated opposition to the festival per se. Meanwhile, the Honourable Supreme Court of India, in multiple proceedings, has taken judicial notice of the complete breakdown of law and order in Manipur, and the resultant loss of public confidence in state institutions. Unfortunately, my words were misinterpreted and taken out of context. As a peace-loving citizen of this Great Nation, India, I advocated for peaceful demonstrations and preserving fragile peace in the state. I am not associated with any village volunteers and am deeply worried about the potential damage to peace in the name of the Shirui Lily Festival or whatsoever. My statement sparked crucial public discourse, highlighting valid concerns about buffer zone encroachments and potential damage to peace. I, therefore, stand by my concerns and reiterate that my speech was not an inflammatory one, but a reminder about the importance of maintaining buffer zones to reduce tension and protect all communities. The KSO General Headquarters has come into possession of a deeply disturbing audio recording in which Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, is heard boasting in a closed-door meeting with his cliques that he initiated the war against the Kuki-Zo people to "save Meitei Civilization" . In this recording, Biren Singh explicitly states that he used both legal and questionable means to seize Kuki-Zo lands. He further boasts about ordering the Manipur Police Commandos and other forces to torture and kill Kuki-Zo people and to destroy their villages. He admits that he began planning the present violence 10-15 years ago, during his tenure as an MLA. The audio recording contains several incriminating statements made by Biren Singh: "We (the Meiteis) are all finished. This fittingly serves the 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 for the recent brutal assassination which was guised as a "legitimate encounter"!!!
