SEE YA: City of Seattle homelessness czar Jon Grant has abruptly quit, leaving Mayor Katie Wilson holding the bag on the massive drug fueled street crisis. No particular reason was given, but the city issued the following statement saying Grant “chose to resign effective June 1st after playing a key role in advancing the mayor's highest priority: accelerating the development of new shelters with wraparound services to bring people inside.” My only interaction with Grant happened this past March when he refused to answer questions on the record about the mayor's new tiny house villages. 🧵👇

#BREAKING: Addicts say a new batch of fentanyl laced with meth, insect repellant, and rat poison is hitting the streets of Seattle. Late Tuesday evening, I was reporting in Chinatown-ID and saw a group of people struggling to revive a man laid out on the sidewalk. Even after multiple hits of Narcan, the guy was barely breathing. So I assisted with a sternum rub which helped bring him back to his senses. Mayor Bruce Harrell(Mayor Katie B. Wilson) and every politician in the city must acknowledge the drug crisis is out of control. This has nothing to do with a lack of affordable housing. Everyone I talked to this evening had a place to go. Stop conflating the two issues. An entire generation is being wiped out on their watch. The current plan is not working.

NEW: Kevin Kalb is an independent filmmaker known for his “Dregs of the City” YouTube documentaries. He's in Seattle collaborating with Discovery Institute Media to spotlight the region's homeless drug crisis. He managed to get an interview with Mayor Katie Wilson and questioned her about the "service resistant" addicts who are causing the most problems on the streets. Wilson gave him spin about city "models" that get the "vast majority" of people off the streets. Not true at all. In fact it's the opposite. Even the drug addicts laid out reasons why they don't want city shelters like tiny houses.
