James Hansen, the NASA scientist who first warned Congress about climate change in 1988, published a new paper this morning. His conclusion: 2026 is forecast to be the hottest year ever recorded in the entire history of instrumental temperature measurement. Not second hottest. The hottest. And he says 2027 will be hotter still, because the rate of global warming has literally doubled since 2015. The last time a monster El Niño hit the whole world simultaneously was 1877. Florence Nightingale wrote to the Lord Mayor of London calling it "the most hideous record of human suffering the world has ever seen." That was a natural event on a cooler planet with zero fossil fuel emissions baked into the baseline. We are not on that planet anymore. #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #ElNino #ClimateScience

Earth is getting darker and almost nobody is covering it. NASA's CERES satellites have tracked Earth's albedo since 2003. It's fallen from 29.3% → 28.7%. That 0.6% = ~0.5 W/m² of extra absorbed energy. For context, a major extra warming force — and in 2023 it spiked to 1 W/m² above the 20-year average. Why is it dropping? → Arctic sea ice is disappearing → Snow cover is declining earlier each spring → Low-level clouds over oceans are thinning White surfaces reflect sunlight. Dark ocean absorbs it. Every square meter of lost ice = more heat trapped. The feedback loop is the real problem: Fossil fuels → warming → ice melts → albedo drops → more warming → more ice melts It's self-reinforcing. And 2023–2025 shows the steepest drop in the entire record. This chart should be in every climate briefing. Last night #Colbert was censored by his own network when they pulled the James Talarico interview. Kimmel was pulled off the air last year. The same thing happened to me in 2022 — I just didn't have a late night show. I was a meteorologist who got recruited to cover climate science, then told to stop saying "climate change." I left my 18-year career over it. What's happening now on national TV started in local newsrooms like mine. Nobody was watching then. Pay attention now.

There are 51 Rice's whales left on Earth. They exist only in the Gulf of Mexico. The Trump admin just unanimously voted to exempt all Gulf oil drilling from the Endangered Species Act. Deepwater Horizon killed 17% of them. That was an accident. This is a choice. #Trump #RicesWhale #ClimateChange

Trump's EPA just repealed the Endangerment Finding — the legal foundation for ALL federal climate regulation since 2009. Yesterday he ordered the Pentagon to buy coal. Coal costs up to $169/MWh. Wind costs $27. 99% of coal plants cost more to run than replacing them with new solar. Coal employs 44,000 people. Clean energy employs 3.5 million. Coal pollution killed 460,000 Americans in 20 years. The Peabody Energy CEO stood next to Trump as he signed it. It's not energy policy.
