#Somalia | Video shows the final moments of a Somalia Federal Government soldier from the “Xawaadle” clan pleading for mercy after being stopped by an “Abgaal” clan militia before being killed. The soldier, who served in Lower Shabeelle, was reportedly on medical leave and travelling toward Buulo Burte, Hiiraan, when he was intercepted. He told the gunmen he was sick and appealed to them as his uncles because his mother was “Abgaal,” but despite those maternal ties, he was still killed, reportedly because he was “Xawaadle.” The killing comes amid recent tensions between the “Xawaadle” and “Abgaal” communities along the border between Hiiraan and Middle Shabeelle. A similar clan-related killing of six “Xawaadle” federal soldiers occurred in Ceel Baraf on 26 December 2024.

#Somalia | Alshabab and Xawaadle Representatives Reach Agreement to End Conflict in Hiiraan Alshabab and representatives from the Xawaadle clan, a major Hawiye clan with a large presence across south and central Somalia, have reached an agreement following talks held in Maxaas, Hiiraan, from 30 August to 9 September. The communiqué was released today, nearly a month after the talks concluded, and says longstanding hostilities between the two sides have been brought to an end. The agreement contains 15 points. Among the points announced, the Xawaadle representatives pledged support for Alshabab’s fight against the Somalia Federal Government and African Union forces, while armed extortion checkpoints known as isbaaro and Macawiisley activity in Xawaadle areas are also to be ended. The agreement is particularly significant because Xawaadle fighters have been among the main clan forces fighting Alshabab in Hiiraan, playing a central role in the Macawiisley uprising and major anti-Alshabab offensives that began in the region in 2022.

The crew said the livestock were suffering severe hunger after spending almost two weeks at sea. Somaliland forces were alerted to the vessel and launched a rescue operation, eventually escorting it safely to Berbera this afternoon. #Sanaag | The Cabdalle Xaamud community, part of the Muuse Ismaaciil tribe, today distributed 700 sheep and goats and 16 camels as zakat during a major ceremony held in Dhaban-dhige near Ceerigaabo, marking 30 years of the initiative. The initiative, established in 1996 by Dr. Maxamuud Axmed Shiine, has now continued for 30 years. This year’s livestock was distributed among 31 vulnerable Cabdalle Xaamud families, while 46 people from neighbouring communities—including those facing debt and hardship—also received support. Muuse Ismaaciil is one of the largest and most influential tribes in Sanaag, and this remarkable tradition is uniquely associated with the Cabdalle Xaamud community and is rarely practised on such a scale by other tribes. تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ وَبَارَكَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ
