Dan Orlovsky said the Bears least proven WR room in the NFL bc last year they had nobody top 70 in catches or top 50 in yards. He said the group is gonna have to improve or the Bears offense isn’t gonna be what people expect it to be. I think Dan Orlovsky does a great job, but this is where the spreadsheet misses the football. Yes, the Bears WR room is young. Using raw career catches and yards to call it a weakness is shortsighted. Rome Odunze missed 5 games and still finished with 44 catches 661 yards and six TDs. Luther Burden missed 2 games but if you watched the Bears you know his production was the tale of two seasons. He went from 24.4 YPG in his first 7 games to 60.1 over his final 8 which is a 1,022-yard pace. He also finished 3rd in the league in yards per route run. And if we’re evaluating weapons leaving out Colston Loveland is unfair. From Week 9 on, he had 47 catches 597 yards and 6 TDs. Those 597 yards ranked 2nd among all TEs. He then added 193 yards in 2 playoff games. They might be inexperienced but they’re not lacking talent. I think the pass-catching group as a whole is a strength of this roster. #DaBears #Bears

Some WR routes and drill work. Jahdae Walker 📈 Rome Odunze 〰️ Kayden Davis 📈 J.P. Richardson 📈 Kalif Raymond 📈 Zavion Thomas 〰️ Maurice Alexander📈 Scotty Miller 📈 ▪️Rome has looked good running routes hasn’t made a ton of plays in camp I think he has a strong year. ▪️Zavion shows all the traits to be more than a gadget guy. Just missed some time. ▪️Jahdae really smoth player soft natural hands and fast. Strong camp. ▪️Kayden Davis one of the surprises of camp. Really fast long strider good hands solid route runner. ▪️J.P. Richardson don’t think he makes this team but this guy is an NFL WR makes the most of every two. Very quick and catches everything. ▪️Kalif Raymond. Veteran knows the system quicker and faster than anticipated. Catches everything very competitive blocker. Y’all wanna hear the WORSE reason on why to trade Fields and take Williams yet? Emmanuel Acho thinks the Bears should draft Williams bc they might get TOO MANY first round draft picks w a trade and in doing so more chances to “miss”. Can’t make this stuff up. 😂 #DaBears

Thoughts on the Bears stadium: 1. Illinois deserves a lot of blame. 2. Bears have been trying for over a year to get a deal in Chicago. 2. The Bears aren’t a charity. Indiana’s corporate taxes are half of Illinois, clearer, faster deal. More revenue, more control. #DaBears

Top 3 Bears OTA Takeaways: ▪️WR room has real juice. Luther Burden looks legit, Jahdae Walker flashed, and Zavion Thomas has real quickness. ▪️Defense is moving pieces around different fronts, disguises, Coby Bryant and Dillon Thieneman rotating all over. ▪️TE room could be a weapon Loveland looks smooth, Roush flashed athleticism, and Kmet is steady as always. Loved hearing this from Ben Johnson. Great coaches know when to innovate and when to let their quarterback master the system. Johnson said Caleb Williams isn’t thinking about the play call, cadence, motions, or operation anymore the game is slowing down. That frees his mind for what really matters: anticipation, coverage recognition, and post-snap processing. That’s where big Year 2 jumps happen. #DaBears #Bears #ChicagoBears

This stat is why I love Ben Johnson’s mindset as a play-caller. Among 68 play callers with 70+ games since 1999, Johnson ranks No. 1 in pass rate on: ▪️ 2nd & 1 ▪️ 2nd & 1-2 ▪️ 2nd & 1-3 That is not being reckless. That is understanding leverage. 2nd and short is a coupon. It is a free swing. The defense has to respect the run, the sneak, play action, the quick game, and if they get nosy, you throw it over their head. Most coaches treat 2nd and short like a layup.
