On Monday Dec. 18, we released 5 wolves in Grand County & since then, we have released 5 more in Summit/Grand counties bringing our total released wolves in Colorado to 10 — 4 males and 6 females. We will continue working to reintroduce 15 wolves total by mid-March 2024.

A pup-date 🐺Colorado now has new wolf pups and three new wolf packs (a 🧵) We recognize wolf packs only after a breeding pair has reproduced. While our staff have seen pups at some dens, the total pup count for all of the packs has not been confirmed.

Have ewe herd? The bighorn sheep rut is nearly here, typically starting in mid-November. During rut, rams (males) battle for ewes (females) to assert dominance. These crashes can be up to 40 mph and the crack of a head-on-head collision can sometimes be heard up to 1 mile away!
