Oliver Stone was interviewing MK Benjamin Netanyahu in March 2002 when a bomb went off. A priceless exchange followed. Stone looked out toward the explosion: “What’s up there? A settlement?” Netanyahu: “Everything is a settlement to them. This is a settlement called Jerusalem." Stone was filming an HBO documentary heavily skewed toward the Palestinian side. He had bought into the idea that the conflict was fundamentally about “settlements.” At that exact moment, the Palestinian Authority’s own terror arm — the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades (Fatah) — sent a 17-year-old girl, Ayat al-Akhras, to blow herself up at a supermarket in Jerusalem. She murdered two Israeli civilians and wounded 28 others. This was everyday life for Israelis during the Second Intifada — the same “intifada” so many activists today want to “globalize.” Netanyahu, then a senior Likud MK under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, cut through the illusion in real time. To the Palestinian movement, every inch of Israel is a “settlement.” The problem was never 1967. It was always 1948 — and the very existence of a Jewish state in any part of the Land. The Palestinian cause has never been about building a state next to Israel. It has always been about destroying the one already there.

On This Day — May 17, 1939: Britain Appeased the Arabs & Condemned Europe’s Jews to the Holocaust As Jews across Europe were being beaten, robbed & deported after Kristallnacht, Britain joined the side of their persecutors by issuing the infamous White Paper of 1939 — one of the most disgraceful acts of appeasement and betrayal in modern history. First they appeased Hitler at Munich. Then they appeased the Mufti of Jerusalem and Arab violence. At the worst possible moment, Britain illegally slammed the last escape door shut on Europe’s Jews. The White Paper drastically restricted Jewish immigration to a trickle and made any further entry subject to Arab consent — which the Arabs had already made clear would be zero. Jewish land purchases were brutally restricted. This was not policy. This was betrayal. Britain had been granted the Mandate for Palestine by the League of Nations via unanimous international treaty specifically to establish a Jewish national home and encourage close Jewish settlement. The League’s own Mandates Commission reviewed the White Paper and declared it illegal — a clear violation of the Mandate. Britain simply ignored the League and enforced it anyway. The Jews begged for their lives. Britain gave them a death sentence. Hundreds of refugee ships were turned away. British forces fired on many. The Struma — carrying 769 Jews, including 70 children — was refused entry and later sunk. One of many such tragedies. Britain’s policy trapped Jews in Europe with nowhere to run as the Holocaust began. By closing the gates while the Nazis prepared the gas chambers, Britain became complicit in the scale of the systematic, industrialized genocide. At least hundreds of thousands of Jews who could have reached safety in the Land of Israel were instead exterminated. The British didn’t just fail the Jews. They actively helped ensure that when the Nazis came for them, there was no place left in the world to which they could escape. That is why a strong, sovereign Israel is not optional — it is an existential necessity. Never again will Jews depend on the mercy of empires that appease our enemies and abandon us to slaughter. Never again will we trust “guarantees” from powers that fold, betray, or look away when it matters most.

Meanwhile, Arafat’s refusal of a Palestinian state next to an Israeli state at Camp David was celebrated in Ramallah. There was no public outcry from Palestinians for Arafat’s selling out their futures; instead, “his uncompromising position at Camp David made him a hero.”

When “47 Jews were slaughtered by Arab mobs” in Jaffa in 1921, was that “resistance?” Or maybe it was because of “Israel’s actions in Gaza?” Or perhaps people need to learn a little history before marching in the streets.

This Gazan celebrating Israel’s withdrawal in 2005 said something the rest of the world (including Israel at the time) wanted to ignore: Gaza was not a place to build, but a starting point - now free of all Jews - from which to destroy Israel and “put our flag on Jerusalem.”

Only 8 months after the infamous appeasement of H*tler at Munich, British PM Chamberlain also appeased the Arabs by illegally closing Mandate Palestine to Jewish immigration via the ‘39 White Paper, trapping/damning millions of Jews in Europe & also across the Arab Middle East.

On This Day — June 5, 1967 F**k Around: Arabs spent weeks boasting they would annihilate Israel. Egypt massed troops on the border, imposed a blockade, ordered UNEF out & promised destruction. Jordan & Syria joined. Radio Cairo called on Arabs everywhere to kill Jews. Find Out: At 7:14 a.m., the entire Israeli Air Force (except 12 planes left for home defense) took off in Operation Focus. They caught the Egyptian pilots eating breakfast. By 11:05 a.m., 180 Egyptian planes were destroyed on the ground. Within hours, most of the Jordanian and half the Syrian air forces were also wiped out. Then the real shock: - Israel overran the entire Sinai Peninsula and reached the Suez Canal in four days. - Despite no element of surprise, Israeli forces recaptured all of Judea and Samaria, including the Old City of Jerusalem. - In brutal fighting, they seized the strategically vital Golan Heights, including Mount Hermon — “the eyes and ears of Israel.” On June 7, Colonel Motta Gur’s paratroopers entered the Old City. For the first time in 2,000 years, Jewish soldiers stood at the Western Wall. The shofar was blown. Even hardened, secular soldiers broke down and wept with joy. The Jewish people were home again. 776 Israeli soldiers fell — heroes who turned near-certain destruction into one of the most legendary military victories in history. The Arabs had spent 19 years vowing to erase the Jewish state. They F****d Around. They Found Out. After two millennia of exile and 19 years of encirclement on borrowed time, the Jewish people reclaimed their ancient capital, reunited their ancestral homeland, and reminded the world in six miraculous days what a determined nation can achieve when its back is against the wall. Am Yisrael Chai.

Four days before Israel declared independence, Golda Meir made a desperate secret trip to Amman. Disguised as an Arab woman, she met with King Abdullah of Transjordan — an Arab leader who acknowledged Jewish rights to the Land & who many hoped may choose peace. Abdullah had long kept private contacts with Zionist leaders. He dreamed of a Greater Syria under Hashemite rule and saw cooperation with the Jews as strategically useful. In their November 1947 meeting, he had hinted at possible accommodation. But by May 1948, the Arab world was locked in rejection. Abdullah told Golda he was now “one of several” — no longer free to act alone. Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon were all committed to destroying the Jewish state the moment it was born. He still wanted peace with his Jewish neighbors. But he felt trapped. Before they parted, the King looked at Golda and said these remarkable words: “I believe with all my heart that divine providence has brought you back here, restoring you to the Semitic East which needs your knowledge and initiative. Conditions are now difficult, but be patient.” It was a poignant, almost prophetic farewell. King Abdullah paid for his pragmatism with his life. On July 20, 1951, while visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, he was assassinated by a local Arab gunman acting on orders from the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem and Nazi war criminal, Amin al-Husseini. Peace with Jews was considered treason. This became a tragic pattern: moderate Arab leaders who dared acknowledge Jewish rights or seek accommodation were sidelined, exiled, or killed. From 1948 onward, maximalist rejectionism has been rewarded while moderation has been punished. Yet the Jewish state survived — and thrived anyway.

On This Day — June 4, 1967 Israel stood completely alone — betrayed by its allies and facing annihilation. France — Israel’s main arms supplier — imposed a total weapons embargo on Israel at the direct order of President Charles de Gaulle. Already, every major Western power, including the United States, had Israel under a weapons embargo. The Israeli Cabinet met in emergency session as massive Arab armies gathered on its borders. Egypt alone had nearly 100,000 troops and 1,000 tanks in Sinai, with Jordan, Syria, and Iraq adding more forces. Arab leaders were openly calling for Israel’s destruction. A cable from U.S. President Lyndon Johnson made the situation brutally clear: “Israel will not be alone unless it decides to go it alone.” Israel got the message. With no strategic depth, vastly outnumbered, and abandoned by its supposed friends, the Cabinet voted 12–2 to launch a preemptive strike on the largest Arab military, Egypt (which had already committed an act of war by closing the Straits of Tiran). The war would begin the next morning. The mood across Israel was somber and resolute. Parks were dug up for mass graves. Schools became bomb shelters. Teenagers filled sandbags. The entire nation understood it faced an existential threat — a potential second Holocaust. Yet on June 5, Israel acted. This was the moment a small, isolated nation chose survival over waiting for the mercy of others. Never forget how alone Israel truly was on the eve of the Six Day War.

This Day (May 7) in 1945, Nazi Germany finally surrendered. The same day, Grand Mufti Amin al-Husseini fled Berlin by plane. Here’s how he escaped justice for his war crimes (spoiler alert: blame France again!). First, the Mufti landed his plane in Bern, Switzerland and begged for asylum. The Swiss said no. They detained him and immediately handed him over to French authorities. What happened next is one of the most brazen post-war scandals in modern history. Instead of standing trial, the Mufti was placed under “house arrest” in a luxurious villa just outside Paris. For an entire year he lived in comfort, shaved his iconic beard, wore Western suits, and moved about with virtual freedom while Britain and Yugoslavia demanded his extradition as a war criminal. France refused to hand him over. Then, on May 29, 1946, using a fake passport in the name of Ma’ruf al-Dawalibi, the Mufti simply walked out, boarded a TWA flight to Cairo ... and vanished. The French Foreign Minister didn’t even realize he was gone for more than 12 days. In Egypt, he was greeted as a conquering hero. King Farouk gave him protection and luxury. The Muslim Brotherhood hailed him as “the Arab hero and symbol of jihad.” No trial. No shame. No consequences. And his legacy, unfortunately, endured. As this documentary clip puts it: “The Grand Mufti's place as leader of the Palestinian Arabs was eventually taken by a relative ... Yasser Arafat. In August 2002, Arafat gave an interview in which he referred to al-Husseini as a symbol of Palestinian Arab resistance. He called him simply, ‘a hero.’” This is how war criminals become legends to be emulated and revered — when a likeminded ideology protects and lionizes them.

During the 1948 War, Arabs tried to starve 100,000 Jews to death in Jerusalem; and they bragged about “strangling” the city. By March 1948 - exactly as I laid out yesterday - the Arabs were winning the “battle for the roads.” They cut the only highway from Tel Aviv, blew the water pipeline, and ambushed every relief convoy. Jewish Jerusalem was on the verge of literal starvation with little food and only rationed rain water from ancient cisterns. Arab military leaders (local irregulars stiffened by Iraqi troops and the British-commanded Arab Legion) made their goal crystal clear: isolate and “strangle” the Jewish civilians until they died of starvation or surrendered. By June, the weekly ration per person was 100g wheat, 100g beans, 40g cheese, 100g coffee or powdered milk, 160g bread per day, 50g margarine, and one or two eggs only for the sick. People lost an average of 5kg. The dead lay in the streets. Again, notice the similarities between what they did and that of which they accuse Israel today. This was a deliberate starvation campaign by Arabs against Jews. Yet the same voices who screamed “famine in Gaza” (when no famine ever occurred) have nothing to say about the actual starvation campaign against Jerusalem’s Jews. After the Old City fell on May 28, Jordan ethnically cleansed the city’s ancient Jewish community, and further ethnically cleansed every last Jew from Judea and Samaria (renamed the “West Bank” for the first time in history two years later when Jordan illegally annexed the territory). But the Jordanians did more than just expel the surviving Jews, they destroyed the Old City’s 58 synagogues, turned holy sites into stables and latrines, and boasted: “For the first time in 1,000 years not a single Jew remains in the Jewish Quarter.” The inversion never stops. Go ahead and drop some other examples of inversion in the anti-Israel narrative below.

On This Day — June 10, 2007 Hamas turned Gaza into a butcher shop. Two years after Israel unilaterally withdrew every soldier, ‘settler,’ and Jew from Gaza — leaving the greenhouses intact and handing over the keys in the name of peace — Hamas showed the world exactly what they do with power. After winning the 2006 elections, they didn’t build a state. They butchered. On June 10, 2007, during the final phase of the Fatah-Hamas civil war, Hamas gunmen grabbed Mohammed Sweirki, an officer in the elite Palestinian Presidential Guard. They dragged him to the roof of a 15-story apartment building — the tallest in Gaza — and hurled him to his death. His body plummeted through the air and smashed into the concrete below in a public execution designed to send a message: This is what happens to our enemies. Fatah retaliated that same night: they murdered the imam of Gaza’s Great Mosque and opened fire on Hamas leader and newly elected Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh’s home. Then, just before midnight, Fatah’s own terrorists seized a Hamas fighter and threw him screaming off a 12-story building. Rooftop executions. Bodies shattered on pavement. Blood running in the streets of Gaza. This wasn’t politics or ‘resistance.’ The was raw, medieval savagery between two terror factions fighting over who would get to rule the ruins. By June 14, it was over. Hamas completed its bloody coup. They seized total control of Gaza through murder, intimidation, and terror — throwing political rivals from rooftops, executing opponents in the streets, and dragging their bodies through the dirt. This is how Hamas won absolute power. Israel left. Palestinians voted. Hamas murdered its way to dictatorship. And from that river of Arab blood spilled in 2007 flowed the October 7 Massacre in 2023. Never forget how this nightmare actually began: not with ‘occupation,’ but with Hamas choosing barbarism and destruction over peace and building the moment they had the chance.

On This Day — May 18, 1967 18 days before the Six Day War, Arab leaders openly broadcast their planned extermination of Israel. Egypt’s official Voice of the Arabs declared: “The sole method we shall apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence." Two days later, with Syrian troops already massed on Israel’s border, Defense Minister Hafez al-Assad declared: “I, as a military man, believe that the time has come to enter into a battle of annihilation.” Cairo Radio the next day: “This is our chance, Arabs, to deal Israel a mortal blow of annihilation, to blot out its entire presence in our holy land.” Extermination. Annihilation. Annihilation again. They said it loudly, proudly, and repeatedly on state radio — a little more than two weeks before the war. Not hidden plans. Not vague threats. Explicit genocidal intent, 22 years after the Holocaust. Yet to this day, people still blame Israel for starting the war. The truth: Israel faced imminent annihilation from a Soviet-backed Arab alliance that had mobilized hundreds of thousands of troops, closed the Straits of Tiran, and expelled UN peacekeepers. Under customary international law, a preemptive strike against an imminent existential threat is not only justified — it is legal. Israel struck first only against Egypt, the ringleader. It begged Jordan’s King Hussein to stay out of the fighting. Hussein ignored the plea, joined the war, and lost the "West Bank" and Old City of Jerusalem in the process. Israel didn’t want that war. It simply refused to die in it. While the world did nothing, Israel acted alone — and in six days destroyed the genocidal threat to its existence.

In 2005, Israel gave Palestinians exactly what the world demanded: “Land for Peace.” They unilaterally withdrew from the entire Gaza Strip, but got no peace. The IDF forcibly removed every last Jew — even digging up Jewish graves. Gaza was made completely Jew-free, exactly as Palestinians demanded. Israel handed over thriving communities, farms, and hundreds of millions in infrastructure — including productive greenhouses that could have become an economic engine for a Palestinian state. What did the Palestinians do with this gift? They destroyed it. Mobs looted and burned the greenhouses. They ransacked and demolished synagogues. They celebrated with Hamas flags and gunfire. Then, in January 2006, they voted Hamas — a genocidal terrorist organization whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews — into power. By 2007, Hamas completed a bloody coup, threw Fatah members off rooftops, and seized total control of Gaza. The result? - Tens of thousands of rockets fired at Israeli civilians - More than 500 miles of underground terror tunnels - Billions in international aid stolen for war, not welfare - Gaza transformed into a fortified Islamic terror enclave Land for peace was tried — and violently rejected. Everything Israel gave away in 2005 became the launchpad for the October 7 Massacre. This is the ultimate proof: the Palestinian movement has never wanted a state living next to Israel. Its goal has always been the destruction of the Jewish state — in any part of the Land. Important note: The blockade only came after Hamas seized power in 2007 and turned Gaza into a launchpad for war. And when that happened, Egypt joined it too. Disengagement didn’t bring peace. It brought the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

This Day (May 6) in 1943, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem wrote the Bulgarian Foreign Minister demanding Jewish children be sent to Poland — not British Mandate Palestine — so they could be murdered. While living as Hitler’s honored guest in Berlin, Grand Mufti Amin al-Husseini — the highest religious authority among Palestinian Arabs — sent a chilling letter to the Bulgarian Foreign Minister. Bulgaria was preparing to allow 4,000 Jewish children and 500 Jewish adults to emigrate to safety in British Mandate Palestine. The Mufti was furious. He immediately intervened with his confidants Himmler and von Ribbentrop to cancel the plan and insisted the Jews — including the children — be sent to Poland instead, where they would be under “strict control.” The Mufti knew exactly what “strict control” in Poland meant in 1943. He had personally toured Nazi concentration camps as a VIP guest of the SS and was impressed by the efficiency at which they killed Jews. The Mufti had already spent years in Berlin broadcasting Nazi radio propaganda calling for the extermination of Jews across the Arab world. He actively recruited Muslims for Waffen-SS units. He lobbied Hitler directly to ensure no Jews would escape to British Mandate Palestine. On November 28, 1941, Hitler had assured him: “Germany is determined… to call on the European nations one by one to solve the Jewish problem and, at the proper moment, to address the same appeal to non-European peoples.” The Mufti took that promise seriously and worked tirelessly to make sure it was fulfilled. Even after the war, the Nazi-Arab alliance against Jews continued. Arab states (especially Egypt and Syria) recruited former Nazi war criminals and rocket scientists to build missile programs to target Israel and modernize anti-Israel propaganda with Nazi antisemitic imagery and tactics, giving these Nazis the opportunity to continue the Holocaust, but now against the Jewish state. The Mufti’s letter on May 6, 1943, is a stark reminder that the goal was never “borders” for two states. The goal was the elimination of Jews. That same eliminationist ideology has never gone away. It has simply found new flowery language and new champions for the "cause."

On This Day — May 28, 1948 Israel appointed a Jewish American badass as its first general in nearly 2,000 years — David “Mickey” Marcus. Marcus was a tough Brooklyn kid, a West Point graduate, and a decorated U.S. Army colonel and war hero who volunteered to help the newborn Jewish state on the brink of annihilation. He had already lived a legendary life: helped take down Lucky Luciano, parachuted into Normandy with the 101st Airborne, liberated Nazi death camps, and worked on the Nuremberg trials. Then, in 1948, he walked away from a promising U.S. Army career, took the fake name “Michael Stone,” and sailed to Israel to turn the ragtag Haganah into a real army. To turn it into the IDF. See him immortalized by the great Kirk Douglas in the clip below from the 1966 movie Cast a Giant Shadow. On May 28, David Ben-Gurion gave Marcus command of the Jerusalem front. The situation was dire: 100,000 Jews in Jerusalem were under siege. The Arab Legion (with British officers) had cut the only supply road, starving the city. Food was rationed to near nothing. Water was cut off. People were eating mallow leaves and facing surrender. Marcus didn’t flinch. He helped design and build the legendary Burma Road — a desperate, hand-carved bypass through mountains and ravines under enemy fire. Convoys, jeeps pushed by hand, and even donkeys carried supplies over terrain many thought impossible. That road broke the siege and saved Jerusalem. He trained fighters, designed command structures, and brought American military know-how to men and women who had just survived the Holocaust and refused to die again. On June 10, hours before a ceasefire, Mickey Marcus was tragically killed by friendly fire — a young sentry didn’t recognize him in the dark. He was wrapped in a white sheet, walking back to his quarters. He never saw the full victory he helped make possible. Israel buried its first general with full honors. His body was returned to West Point, where his tombstone reads: “A Soldier for All Humanity.” Mickey Marcus is the ultimate “Never Again” hero: a man who had everything in America but chose to risk it all so Jews would never again be defenseless. From a Brooklyn street fighter to Israel’s first general since the Maccabees. That’s the spirit that built the Jewish state.
