Fauci pleading the 5th is a perversion of the intended purpose of that amendment. Dave Smith: "The idea of the 5th Amendment is that if the government's trying to deprive you, a citizen, of your liberty, then you have certain rights before they can take your liberty away. And, one of those rights, is that you have the right to not incriminate yourself. "That's very different from saying a government employee has the right to not incriminate himself when being asked questions about depriving all of the American people of their basic rights. It's pretty obvious to see what a basic perversion that is."

. Dave Smith responds to JD Vance's appeal to the non-interventionist right on Megyn Kelly's show: "There's something that you want from us, and we kinda do have that. And, you know what? I'm kind of inclined to give it to you." "We need to defend Donald Trump making this decision to admit defeat and to get us out of the war." "Here's what I'll offer to MAGA: for the next 60 days, I will do my best to tone down my criticism of the people pushing this deal and ramp up my criticism of the Israel lobby, Fox News, Netanyahu...all the people trying to destroy this deal and keep the war going. I will focus my fight on them, and I will defend Donald Trump in doing the right thing--after being solely responsible for bringing us to this point." "The only thing that we ask for in return is that, JD Vance, you can't be the guy going forward and we need you all to support Thomas Massie for president." "And, listen, MAGA, I'm talkin' to you guys here, one of the benefits you get is that he's *actually* America-first. He actually believes in all the stuff that you claim to."

So is Lex Fridman just censoring entire segments of his interviews that he doesn't like? I remember Dave Smith saying he recorded with Lex for ~5 hours, but the final video was only 3 hours. Now Scott Horton is telling Liam McCollum that Lex cut an entire hour from his debate on Iran.

Shocker: Dave Smith was right again: "See this is the goddamn thing I was telling all you people about last summer that nobody wanted to fucking listen to: ...This is all about a regime change. This is the regime change Israel has wanted for decades." "This is always the question that never gets asked: what comes next?" "And now, instead of having the Ayatollah who had shown restraint in the past, who had vowed that, due to his religious convictions, he never wanted nuclear weapons, now we've got a whole new guy in there who...is more radical than the last one."

If you confiscated all the wealth of all the billionaires in the country--and let's just pretend you could actually liquidate it for that much--you would cover about ONE YEAR of federal government spending. As Dave Smith points out in his reply to this clip, we're not taxing our way out of this, and the idea that we ever had a Friedmanite government at any point is simply ahistorical. "Which year did Ronald Reagan cut spending? Oh, wait, it increased EVERY year?" We aren't going to fix this country with Hamiltonian economics. We need to embrace a Misesian/Rothbardian understanding of economics, and until the right understands that, they're going to keep losing to the left in the long run because they are fundamentally thinking of government and economics on the left's terms.

As a Dave Smith fan, this was the only point in the entire 3 hours where Douglas Murray actually managed to plant a seed of doubt in my worldview. If Murray had known anything about Dave coming into the debate, he'd've known that you don't attack his status as a comedian, you go after his sources. He tried to with Darryl Cooper, but he so clearly had no idea what he was talking about there that it rang hollow. But here, he talks about how Pat Buchanan got leveled in a debate on Churchill against Andrew Roberts. Well, every anti-Churchill person I hear cites Buchanan's book, so if you can tear that down, then you can tear down the anti-Churchill narrative. And Murray actually makes a good point about only knowing the contrary view. For example, the only book I've ever read on Lincoln is Tom DiLorenzo's The Real Lincoln, so I obviously don't have a very full picture of the man. But, I've seen DiLorenzo wipe the floor with premier Lincoln historians in debates, so I'd like to see this debate on Churchill if anyone knows anything about it.

If you're going to accuse your debate opponent of a logical fallacy, you better actually have an understanding of what that fallacy is. Douglas Murray repeatedly accused Dave Smith of appealing to authority for simply quoting people and trying to hang them with their own words. This was after Douglas Murray spent the first 45 minutes admonishing Rogan for not talking to the people Murray considers authoritative experts. This clip is also a great example of Murray's tactic of constantly interrupting Dave Smith in the middle of making a great point he can't refute by going on a nitpicky tangent to derail the conversation and avoid having to respond directly to it.

"I gotta to say to DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and I hope you hear this, you really had me going there for a little bit...I kinda believed that you actually gave a shit about the people you watched having their limbs blown off." --Dave Smith on Tulsi's betrayal 1/2🧵

"It's obvious the reason why Sam Harris doesn't want to get into the history of it is because that might be kind of humanizing toward the other side, and clearly what he's in business of doing is dehumanizing them. And that's the whole game." Dave Smith and Robbie Bernstein dismantle Sam Harris' ridiculous "Why I Won’t Debate Critics of Israel" article on Substack.

I still remember the first time I heard Dave Smith talk about how our culture treats bigotry as a greater evil than war and being shocked that not only had I not realized that, but I'd internalized it myself. And then, as Nicholas J. Fuentes points out, the establishment will use that paradigm to selectively label people who are challenging the status quo as racist who can be safely ignored. This is just great stuff from Dave x Nick. Full episode is definitely worth a listen (link in thread).

More 🔥from Dave Smith: "Any person who's an influence of yours...[who is] celebrating day one of a war, that this was a success, please never listen to that person again." "The whole game is what comes next, not whether we can topple the government." "This is the Lindsay Graham presidency."

Now that Dave Smith and Scott Horton have raised their profiles so much talking about war and current events, I'd really love if they used some of their time in these long-form interviews to try to teach people economics, as Scott is wishing he had in this clip. You have to be anti-war to be a libertarian, but you don't have to be a libertarian to be anti-war. Someone who is anti-war can just as easily fall into the same economic thinking as Cenk Uyghur or Jimmy Dore or--God forbid--Caitlin Johnstone. The number one thing keeping people who could be libertarians from being libertarians is their understanding of economics. Some people will just always be morally against it, but for those who aren't, they really need the public school cobwebs cleaned out and the right stuff put in there. So, please, Scott and Dave, please start using these opportunities you're getting on Tucker, Rogan, Candace, etc to start trying to teach people economics, or at least point them in the right direction. You will probably have to be more confrontational with the hosts than you would with war, but hopefully you've garnered enough trust with them at this point that they'll take it on good faith and hopefully even with an open mind.
