So is Lex Fridman just censoring entire segments of his interviews that he doesn't like? I remember Dave Smith saying he recorded with Lex for ~5 hours, but the final video was only 3 hours. Now Scott Horton is telling Liam McCollum that Lex cut an entire hour from his debate on Iran.

Fauci pleading the 5th is a perversion of the intended purpose of that amendment. Dave Smith: "The idea of the 5th Amendment is that if the government's trying to deprive you, a citizen, of your liberty, then you have certain rights before they can take your liberty away. And, one of those rights, is that you have the right to not incriminate yourself. "That's very different from saying a government employee has the right to not incriminate himself when being asked questions about depriving all of the American people of their basic rights. It's pretty obvious to see what a basic perversion that is."

If you're going to accuse your debate opponent of a logical fallacy, you better actually have an understanding of what that fallacy is. Douglas Murray repeatedly accused Dave Smith of appealing to authority for simply quoting people and trying to hang them with their own words. This was after Douglas Murray spent the first 45 minutes admonishing Rogan for not talking to the people Murray considers authoritative experts. This clip is also a great example of Murray's tactic of constantly interrupting Dave Smith in the middle of making a great point he can't refute by going on a nitpicky tangent to derail the conversation and avoid having to respond directly to it.

I still remember the first time I heard Dave Smith talk about how our culture treats bigotry as a greater evil than war and being shocked that not only had I not realized that, but I'd internalized it myself. And then, as Nicholas J. Fuentes points out, the establishment will use that paradigm to selectively label people who are challenging the status quo as racist who can be safely ignored. This is just great stuff from Dave x Nick. Full episode is definitely worth a listen (link in thread).

If you confiscated all the wealth of all the billionaires in the country--and let's just pretend you could actually liquidate it for that much--you would cover about ONE YEAR of federal government spending. As Dave Smith points out in his reply to this clip, we're not taxing our way out of this, and the idea that we ever had a Friedmanite government at any point is simply ahistorical. "Which year did Ronald Reagan cut spending? Oh, wait, it increased EVERY year?" We aren't going to fix this country with Hamiltonian economics. We need to embrace a Misesian/Rothbardian understanding of economics, and until the right understands that, they're going to keep losing to the left in the long run because they are fundamentally thinking of government and economics on the left's terms.
