Beautiful ending to a perfect day at ⁦Althorp⁩ - we celebrated the 90th birthday of my father’s first cousin today: 110 people came to toast a marvellous lady. Her advice on how to get through life? “There’s no time for dithering.” Amen to that.

I’ve planted 2 vineyards at ⁦Althorp⁩ recently - the larger one (next to where ⁦Prof Cat Spencer FSA💀⁩ &amp; her archaeologists excavated the Roman villa) is being extended. Here we are digging four feet (1.2m) down to lay in the drainage.

What a treat to welcome 350 members of the Rock Choir to ⁦Althorp⁩ today - recording a charity single for the wonderful ⁦The Diana Award⁩ The Diana Award was set up 25 years ago to continue my sister’s legacy of care and hope among young people all over the world.

7 o’clock this morning - the old clock striking just now in Althorp’s Stable Block.

My extremely talented stepbrother Johnnie Shand Kydd - whose photography is in the National Portrait Gallery - has a new exhibition opening at Tracey Emin’s gallery in Margate. I will also be interviewing Johnnie at ⁦Althorp⁩ on 8 May during Althorp Literary Festival.

Santa made a magical visit to ⁦Althorp⁩ this evening - a high point of the year here.

Tim the Peacock - Althorp’s most magnificent resident - is the inspiration for my topic on this week’s episode of The Rabbit Hole Detectives podcast. Every time I see Tim in full plumage, I am amazed that Nature dared to come up with such an astonishingly beautiful creature.

11 o’clock on a beautiful autumn day - and the Stables clock’s bells sounding clear through a buffeting wind.

Early morning manoeuvres at ⁦Althorp⁩ today - adult geese beginning to show their goslings round the Park. The warm weather this spring has played its part in ensuring a particularly successful breeding season.

Several families of freshly hatched goslings enjoying the sunshine on Althorp’s Round Oval Lake this afternoon. Wild greylag and Canada geese flock here to lay their eggs each year. A peaceful spot for them.
