Today, the world's largest offshore converter station set off from Jiangsu province for Yangjiang, Guangdong province. Once installed offshore, it will become the energy hub for the Three Gorges Yangjiang Qingzhou 5 and 7 offshore wind farms. The fifteen-story-high giant does not generate power itself. It collects electricity from offshore wind turbines, converts it, and sends it ashore through about 90 km of submarine cables — like a "super heart" at sea.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Through changing times, China-Pakistan friendship has remained as strong as iron, with the two countries often termed as "Iron Brothers", while green cooperation is becoming a new highlight of bilateral ties. Located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan, the 720 MW Karot Hydropower Project, developed by CTG and operated by CSAIL, is known as Pakistan's version of "Three Gorges Project". It is the first major CPEC hydropower project in commercial operation and the first large-scale hydropower investment project under the Belt and Road Initiative. With an average annual output of about 3.206 billion kWh, it can meet the electricity demand of more than five million local people. CSAIL also operates three wind farms in Jhimpir, Sindh, with a combined installed capacity of 148.5 MW. Together, they deliver about 443 GWh of clean electricity every year, enough to meet the power needs of more than 600,000 people. But this partnership is not only about electricity. Beyond power generation, CSAIL has supported biodiversity protection along the Jhelum River, community infrastructure, roads, bridges, water systems, hospitals, schools, scholarships and flood relief. From hydropower to wind power, from energy supply to community support, these projects show how clean energy cooperation can bring long-term value to people, nature and development.

From the majestic Three Gorges, Yichang in Hubei province stands as a global capital of hydropower. Home to the Gezhouba Dam — the first dam on the Yangtze — and the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydropower project, the city covers just 0.2 percent of China's land yet powers vast regions of the country. The return of Yangtze finless porpoises, Qu Yuan's poetry and navel oranges show its unique Yangtze charm.

How big is the world's first 20MW offshore wind turbine? On Feb 5, the world's first 20MW offshore wind turbine successfully completed commissioning and was connected to the grid in the waters off southern Fujian. Standing 174 meters tall with 147-meter blades, one full sweep of its rotor covers nearly 10 football fields. With just a single rotation, it can generate 50 kWh of electricity — enough to power one person for about 17 days. Follow our reporter's lens as he steps into the installation site.
