Watching and hearing about the stampede in Bangalore made me wonder where we are going ! This is not a national team winning the World Cup ! It’s a mere franchise called RCB which works on commercial lines and does not have a single Hyderabad player in it !? It’s not even a #Hyderabad based team ! The night round officers were totally taken by surprise at 12 in the midnight as hordes of youngsters and revellers descended on Tank bund ,NTR marg and Necklace road and behaved in an unruly manner, sample of which you can see in the videos below, quite alarmingly. Traffic got jammed in all directions . Seeing the situation and the hooliganism , extra forces were rushed and a lathi charge done to disperse the unruly crowd.From a police officer’s perspective, this unannounced celebrations on the streets by large gatherings are a big danger to public safety and may lead to exactly what we saw in Bengaluru. What if there were some deaths in Hyderabad too ? Can anyone expect celebrations for RCB in Hyderabad city ! But with the social media playing a huge role across the country and the globe , perhaps police has to be alert for everyone and everything in future ! Is it humanely possible to do so - is what I am wondering 🤔

It was a very busy and perhaps the biggest day for me and my family . As per the muhurtham , I reached the DGP office at Lakdikapul with my family , took the salute and followed the pujari into the dgp chambers where the puja and blessings were done. Then at 11:05 AM , signed the papers and officially took charge as DGP (HOPF ).All the senior officers and office employees and large number of citizens greeted me . Before the press meet at 1 pm , I conducted a brief meeting with the senior officers present on a few issues troubling the department and took opinions. Then I addressed a long press conference where I outlined the priorities of the government and the agenda which we have set for ourselves and answered the tricky questions which journalists usually raise at such press meets . The visitors flow continued till 6 pm whereafter I left to greet the Hon’ble chief minister.

Had a meeting with the elders of the Muslim community who took a historic decision to postpone the #Milad Un Nabi juloos( procession) on 28 th September as it was clashing with the Ganesh final immersion on the same day.We agreed to make the needed arrangements on 1 st October. It’s a slightly long post but please bear with me! It was a brilliant bit of bowling by Indian fast bowlers in the annihilation of Sri Lanka today . But honestly, as a person who expects genuine competition leading to tough matches , it is really sad to see the condition of the srilankan team and the pathetic levels to which their batting has fallen. 50 all out in the Asia cup finals , 55 all out today !! Are they not able to produce any more Jayasuryas, Jayawardenes or Sangakarras!!?? Similarly, it is so sad to see the condition of the West Indies team which didn’t even qualify for the WC ! There are hardly 10-12 countries which play cricket and out of them hardly 4-5 teams are worth their salt . It’s becoming more and more one sided and less fun to watch . Has it got to do with the financial aspects of cricket in those countries where Boards are unable to pay and Cricketers are fending for themselves through T20 and other leagues . Attended the launch of the logo of the Telangana Premier #Cricket league (TPL) , a long felt need of every cricketer of #Telangana. 26 out of 29 states in India are running their own T20 cricket premier leagues and they have become the basis of identification of talent and selections into the IPL. So, finally with government support ,it is underway and I requested them to maintain absolute transparency and integrity in the entire process of tenders and team selections and also be legally on the right side so that no one can ever find fault with the process in future. I wish the team of HCA working this out under the leadership of justice Naveen Rao who is the chief administrator of HCA , all the best 💐👍🏽

Had a mega VC with all SI and above rank officers of all wings under the DGP, officers numbering about 6500 attended. After initial remarks about Govt’s observations and expectations, I spoke about the changing challenges of the department from tackling Maoism and routine crimes to Narco-Cyber-Traffic related issues troubling the public and how we need our orientation and thinking. Informed them about the creation of new wings for traffic and road safety, for Tech team to adopt latest technologies, a vigilance and enforcement task force to control revenue leakages and anti food adulteration wing as cancer cases rise in #Telangana. Outlined the duties of SPs and CPs as leaders of their units, the need to go back to basic policing of doing their crime meetings , visits and inspections of police stations and other units, ensuring adequate day and night patrols, reaction to dial 112 calls, community policing allotting 3-5 pm as visiting hours uniformly across the state for public to meet them, protocol standards vis a vis political representatives. Exhorted them to work as Captains of their units and Lead and maintain highest standards of integrity without which their efforts will be of no use. Then spoke at length about duties of the SHOs who are the main people who make or break the department and listed all their duties and responsibilities. Also detailed the duties of the SI s who are not SHOs , the DSP s, Addl SP s as supervisory officers. Touched upon the role of Battalion and AR commandants and the AC s and RI s in maintaining force motivation and welfare. Interacted with some SI s , Insps ,SP s and CP s of remote areas. All in all, it was very satisfying that I could get my thoughts across at one go to the entire force.

Second time in a row the 70 feet Khairtabad #Ganesh got immersed by 1:30 pm on immersion day. Despite it involving a challenging procedure of moving the idol to the immersion point, dewelding and welding etc., our central zone police teams and the Utsav committee members toiled and succeeded in completing the immersion.Congratulations to all of them 💐.

After the aerodrome committee meeting , went to meet Max and Sweetie , my two German shepherd gifts to the RGIA AirPort in 2019. Unfortunately the third one Roy had died after an attack of GDV and these two also had the same attacks on duty but were detected early and survived after emergency surgeries. Saw them after a gap but they both reacted as if I had seen them yesterday and showered me with their love . Felt blessed 😊

Young yoga and fitness trainers Karthik and Mahadev had asked for an appointment to talk about my fitness routine .I had asked them to come to Gymkhana where we were playing the quarterfinal of the HCA one day league championship vs Victory team . He recorded while I warmed up for the match and , practised and opened the batting when the match started.I scored 50 before being caught at slips. He posted on his insta account called Coach_Karthik8. They were very excited about the huge response ! They posted 2 more videos of the brief interaction.
