So here’s what happened: FlyDubai flight FZ1073 was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv with around 150 Israelis onboard. The crew consisted of an Emirati pilot and an Omani co-pilot. During the flight, the aircraft squawked 7500, indicating a hijacking, after the Omani co-pilot allegedly attempted to take control of the plane. The co-pilot was reportedly armed with a knife and clashed with the pilot, seriously injuring him. The transponder was then switched off, causing the aircraft to disappear from flight tracking, before it entered a steep dive from around 30,000 ft to 15,000 ft. The situation was brought under control after a group of Israeli pilots onboard as part of a routine training exercise, along with several passengers, rushed to the cockpit and overpowered the co-pilot. They regained control of the aircraft and safely diverted it to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
