A 6-year-old boy in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. 18 members of his family were killed in Pakistani Military’s airstrike. He is one of only five survivors. Both his parents are gone. All his siblings gone. He now sits with an uncle who also lost his wife and children in the same strike. In the video, he keeps crying: “Take me to their graves.” “I want Asadullah.” “They are all dead.” This is Pakistan’s Ramadan “gift.” The world will move on. But this child, his tribe, and Afghans will never forget until the debt is paid.

Iran’s stance on Pakistan and the meeting of US aligned foreign ministers in Pakistan. “And it is very shameful that the foreign ministers of the region, Egypt, Türkiye, the Saudi and Pakistan issued a statement in which they blamed Iran for a war which they helped start. They assisted the US in bringing this war to the region. They assisted the US in assaulting our country, yet they have the audacity to blame Iran.”

Why has Pakistan suddenly become so brazen in bombing Afghanistan, seemingly without fear of international consequences? The full answer is long. But this 2019 clip of Donald Trump explains part of it. Trump openly threatened to wipe Afghanistan “off the face of the earth,” then said Washington was working with Pakistan to extricate itself from the war. Pakistan has long presented itself to Washington as the regional instrument for managing Afghanistan. My reading is that the same logic continues today: Islamabad believes that by serving wider American and Israeli regional interests, including pressure on Iran and military action against Afghanistan, it will be protected from consequences. Pakistan is not acting with confidence because it is powerful. It is acting with impunity because it believes powerful patrons are behind it. This adventurism will cost Pakistan dearly across the Afghanistan, Iran, and India fronts. The alliances it is relying on today may leave it isolated tomorrow.

A Pakistani uncle’s view on the AFG-PAK conflict: “This is not Pakistan, this is America’s 51st state.” “Those Afghans, they’re better than us. They were honorable before PAK was created, & they’re honorable now.” “Paki public is just like sheep. Army can do anything to them.”

Pakistani Senator’s hilarious view of UAE. “We helped create UAE and established its Army. UAE is a ‘helpless country’ and needs money right now so we as ‘big brother’ should help them by returning the loan.” 😂😂😂 This delusion is the direct result of what I call the “Mutaliya-e-Pakistan” or “Pak Studies” Syndrome.
