VIDEO: A rare rear view of a section of outgoing Parliament Speaker Anita Among’s sprawling residence in Kigo, where detectives and joint security operatives continue with investigations. Information gathered indicates the property has separate basement levels — one designated for parking, while another lower basement reportedly contains a gym, sauna and cinema hall. The footage zooms in on investigators and security personnel moving within parts of the facility during the ongoing operation. Visible on the first floor is a red-carpeted guest reception area leading to what sources described as Among’s office space, while a third-floor section is said to have restricted access reserved exclusively for her, according to one worker at the site who requested anonymity. The residence is also fitted with an internal lift system. Beyond the main compound, the property includes an additional newly developed section that, as of May 17, was being leveled ahead of planned beautification works. It is further alleged that a Rolls-Royce linked to the politician is parked within that section, although this could not be independently verified. UPDATE: DPP Lino Anguzu has confirmed receiving a complaint from National Unity Platform over delays in handling cases involving its supporters, whose files have remained before the General Court Martial since 2021. Anguzu said although the ODPP is preparing an official response to the NUP, it cannot investigate or prosecute cases still under the GCM unless the files are formally transferred to civilian courts. VIDEO: A joint security search that lasted more than eight hours at the residence of outgoing Parliament Speaker Anita Among appears to have concluded after most operatives withdrew from the scene in Nakasero by 11:00am Sunday. However, about five VIPPU personnel remained seated by the roadside near the main gate, with barely any movement seen in or out of the residence at the time. Among’s whereabouts remain unclear, although it is believed she remained in-house throughout yesterday's tense operation. Masaka City Woman MP Justine Nameere has vowed a fierce fight against corruption following her appointment as State Minister for Local Government. Appointed by President Museveni on May 26, Nameere will serve under Senior Minister Balaam Barugahara. She has pledged an immediate crackdown on the illegal selling of district jobs, extortion in government schools, and the lack of transparency surrounding expired medicine disposal.
