Mukono North MP-elect Abdallah Kiwanuka has stormed Mukono District... tally centre after learning that a group of NRM Party youths were allegedly tampering with ballot boxes. Despite a power blackout in the area, Mr Kiwanuka has vowed to sleep at the tally centre. The suspects are said to have fled when police arrived. Mr Kiwanuka is concerned about tampering and a possible recount plot by his NRM Party rival, Ronald Kibuule's camp. "They are using the EC of Mukono to add more ticked ballots in the box so that they can claim for a recount in the courts of law. That's what is happening here at EC now," one of the electoral commission officials at the tally centre told this publication. A Glider bus driver and Syrian national says his... family were forced out of their home after a two-year campaign of intimidation which led to a race hate attack on Sunday night. Torki Al Omare was at home with his wife and three children aged 11, 9 and 7 on Sunday night in Holywood when a group of masked youths attacked their home with stones, breaking windows and causing minor injuries to two of the children. Police are treating the incident on Church Green as a racially motivated hate crime. The body of a 28-year-old journalist was found in... a septic tank on the premises of a contractor whom he had recently exposed for corruption in #Chhattisgarh. #MukeshChandrakar, who worked with a local news channel, was found dead on January 3 in #Bijapur district. Mukesh, who had been missing since the night of January 1, recently conducted an investigation against contractor #SureshChandrakar, exposing alleged irregularities in a Rs 120-crore road construction project in #Bastar. The expose had prompted the government to initiate an enquiry into the contractor's activities. Mukesh's elder brother, #YukeshChandrakar, filed a missing person report after his phone remained switched off following a meeting arranged by Suresh Chandrakar's brother, Ritesh, at one of the contractor's properties. On January 3, Mukesh's body was discovered inside the water tank on the premises of Suresh's property in Chattanpara, where he was last seen. "The victim's brother informed us that Mukesh had been missing since January 1. We initiated action, scanned CCTV footage and also found his last location. We found Mukesh's dead body inside a tank in the evening today," a senior police official said. Following an increase in attacks from Palestinian armed groups,... the IDF has announced a new, large-scale military operation in the northern part of the West Bank. Israeli forces have been deployed to the cities of Tubas and Qabatiya, where they are carrying out operations aimed at arresting Palestinian militants from local armed groups affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas. Earlier, clashes took place in the village of Marka, near the city of Jenin, as well as in Balata Refugee Camp in the city of Nablus, during which two militants were killed by Israeli soldiers. The IDF already effectively occupies the cities of Tulkarm and Jenin following their earlier military operation which began in January 2025, which largely forced Palestinian armed groups across the northern West Bank to scatter to the surrounding towns and villages. He died on the spot, while his friend sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The sudden news of his death has left his family and local community in shock and mourning. The family of Johnson initiated a $100 million civil lawsuit against 38 individuals, alleging murder and asserting that the defendants were involved in a conspiracy to conceal the homicide, supposedly implicating two sons of an FBI agent. Nembe, Bayelsa State; Police, NYSC Urged to Investigate A young Nigerian graduate and serving NYSC member, Okebaram Stanley Chimaoke, has reportedly been found dead in Nembe, Bayelsa State, under circumstances that remain unclear. Stanley, a former SUG President of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, was serving in Bayelsa when he reportedly went missing on Friday night after leaving his residence to get food from a local restaurant. According to accounts from his colleagues, he never returned. His body was reportedly discovered in a river around the Nembe waterside on Sunday afternoon with parts of his body allegedly eaten by crabs. What is particularly disturbing is that the actual cause of Stanley’s death remains unknown. There are concerns that no clear explanation has yet been provided about what happened between the time he went missing and when his body was found. HISTORYSHEETER ROWDY ARRESTED; FAMILY ATTACKED POLICEMEN A 26-year-old history-sheeter... was arrested during a ganja raid in Pulianthope after police seized narcotic substances from his residence. Police also registered a separate case against his relatives for attacking officers during the operation. A video of the altercation later circulated on social media. Acting on a tip-off about the sale of ganj in the Pulianthope, a team from the Basin Bridge Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Krishnakumar and other personnel, conducted a raid on a house in Gandhi Nagar Fifth Street on Sunday night. The house belonged to Nandakumar, 26, who is listed as a history-sheeter by the police. During the search, officers seized 29 packets of ganja weighing a total of 10 grams and six syringes from the premises. Police said women present in the house initially objected to the search and attempted to prevent officers from carrying out the raid. After Nandakumar was arrested and police attempted to take him into custody, his mother and other female relatives assaulted the officers. According to police, the officers used force to protect themselves and bring the situation under control. A video showing the confrontation between police personnel and the family members subsequently went viral on social media platforms. Nandakumar was taken to the Basin Bridge Police Station, where a case was registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of narcotic substances. He was inquired further. In a related development, Nandakumar’s mother, Meena, went to the police station and demanded her son’s release. Police said she injured her wrist with a razor blade during the protest and argued with officers inside the station premises. She was later sent away after intervention by police personnel.
