🚨Update: As of 5am Saturday 6th June approximately 500 thousand customers of just under 700 thousand customers have been restored across all parishes overnight. It is expected the remaining affected customers will be restored by early this morning. I have called an emergency meeting with JPS for noon today at the jps command center which will be followed by a press briefing. I have been closely monitoring the situation all night and will continue to do so until full restoration is completed. I commit to keeping the nation advised and updated on this UNACCEPTABLE SITUATION.

#Update 🚨 JPS reports that all affected customers have been restored. I am asking persons who may have isolated issues to contact me or Ministry of Energy, Telecomms & Transport with details. Meeting now set for 2pm. Given that restoration has been completed according to the utility provider, the next update will be given at the Media Briefing. Thanks for the usual cooperative and understanding. Get some rest. thanks👏🏼

#Update 🚨 Thread 🧵 A major feature of the Rural School Bus System is the inclusion of monitoring and security features on the buses. Using technology, we are able to better secure the students and the buses. In the 1st video below, from the accident reported in the news, we can see the moment the taxi carrying students and passengers collided with the School Bus.

🚨 #Update I am aware that videos showing One Wing of the MBJ Airport has been used to assume that the entire airport was destroyed. Please understand that MBJ is our largest airport and has 19 gates. It is most disappointing that this came from a member of the Opposition. Let me state on behalf of all Jamaicans that we are grateful for the extensive work being done by volunteers across Western Jamaica. I know exactly where this is headed given the announcements and theatre that took place earlier and will only state that my focus will be isolated to relief matters only. Absolutely disgraceful!

As I said, what is being done in our Parliament now is beyond detestable. Dr Peter Blair-Henry received his PhD in economics from MIT and bachelor’s degrees from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Senator Thame appears not to be aware that Dr Henry served on President Obama’s transition team in 2008, specifically on the economic policy working group as Obama prepared to take office during the height of the financial crisis. He was part of a group of economists advising the incoming administration on how to respond to the global economic meltdown. A Jamaican from Kingston Jamaica who is globally recognized and respected for his work. A very disappointing statement.

This video, of the CCTV camera inside the bus, shows the impact on the driver and the student following the accident. The buses are built for the protection of our students. The driver logs and the CCTV footage is also available and will be handed over to law enforcement. Thankfully no injuries were suffered on the Rural School Bus.

Relief has started arriving with many more pledges made and much much more on the way. This would not be possible without the hard working team at our ports. The mandate is clear and the need is great. We are working to get Supplies and Relief to ALL Jamaicans. As a TEAM.
