Great to be back at another stellar Modular developer conference: #ModCon2026! Thanks to tim for leading a deeply engaging discussion on AI infrastructure, the economics of training and inference, and the looming massive impact of open models. Takeaway: Efficient open models can achieve 90% of frontier performance at 10% of the cost. Soon, most applications outside of science and cybersecurity won’t require frontier models, for the same reason you don't hire a physics PhD for customer support. Congrats to Tim, Chris Lattner, and the entire Modular team on another impressive event (their first as a Qualcomm company!).

Thrilled to join TBPN at yc Demo Day to discuss seed-to-scale investing with John Coogan & Jordi Hays. We dove into AI startups and why I think the adoption of AI might turn the “Mag 7” into the “Mag 70” over the coming years. Thrilled to announce GV doubling-down with a new $100m lead investment in *'s Series D! We’ve been fortunate to have led or co-led (w/Lightspeed) each round since the Series A. I recently spoke with founder Just A Fool about his journey from engineer (in GV’s portfolio) to second-time founder and CEO, and why we believe Redpanda is poised to be a consequential company powering the data layer of the AI market alongside Databricks and Snowflake.
