A British surgeon who treated dying and injured children in Gaza says his evidence of war crimes was ignored by Keir Starmer. Professor Nick Maynard talks to us about his experiences, including how he had to watch babies starve to death after Israel’s deliberate blockade of food, and how Starmer skipped meetings with him and other doctors who had worked in Gaza amid the ongoing genocide. The UN also released two reports last month confirming a genocide and the IDF’s targeting of children, yet the UK government still remains an ally of Israel and refuses to use the term ‘genocide’ for the years long assault on Palestine. Professor Maynard also shares his experiences in a new film, Life Support. Find a screening here:

Foreign minister Hamish Falconer refused to answer questions yesterday about the UK government’s failure to stop British nationals fighting for the Israeli army in Gaza. It comes after more than 25,000 people signed a letter to the Foreign Office demanding they investigate UK citizens who fought in Gaza and may have committed war crimes. Thousands of British nationals have served in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) since the Gaza conflict began in 2023, according to a Freedom of Information response from the IDF first published by Declassified. REVEALED: Jewish activists Jewish Anti-Zionist Action have shown us material from inside an Israeli property event in London yesterday, which shows that illegal settlements on Palestinian land were on sale in the UK. Activists gained access to the event, spoke to numerous developers about the properties for sale in Israeli settlements - which are illegal under British and international law - before they were ejected for disrupting the speeches. The Board of Deputies, which calls itself a representational body for British Jews, claimed that all properties being sold were inside Israel, however these pamphlets clearly show the opposite is true.

Britain's Undercover Policing Inquiry has revealed that BAE Systems offered the Met Police money to spy on protesters in the 1990s. Detective Chief Inspector Dell, who managed the notorious Special Demonstration Squad between 2001-2005, made the admission while discussing his earlier work in C-squad - the Special Branch department that dealt with protest. Dell denied that Special Branch took the money, stating: “Even though the Branch could well have done with the money, they made the offer to the Commissioner, obviously, and it had to be declined”. By 1997, BAE Systems had embedded its own corporate spy, Martin Hogbin, at CAAT. Hogbin remained at CAAT until 2003. CAAT’s Media Coordinator, Emily Apple, said: “BAE Systems went to extraordinary lengths to spy on anti arms trade campaigners, and intrude into our lives."

Anyone who has served in Israel’s army should be suspected of war crimes, said human rights expert and lawyer Chris Sidoti. Sidoti is a member of the UN’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory which has published 17 reports into the treatment of Palestinians, including evidence of sexual violence and torture against children, during Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Replying to a statement from Malaysia’s representative who encouraged countries to investigate dual nationals that had served in the IDF, Sidoti stated that any dual citizen should be suspected of war crimes if they had served in Israel’s Defence Forces since October 2023. He added that countries needed to move on from strong condemnations and into action. Earlier this year, Declassified UK revealed that over 2,000 Britons have served for Israel since the start of the genocide. We then launched a major campaign with the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians to demand that the UK government monitor and investigate the activities of those British nationals. Did David Lammy and Keir Starmer fail to stop a massacre in Sudan because they didn't want to upset the United Arab Emirates? That's the claim made in parliament this week by war crimes investigator Nathaniel Raymond. He said the UAE has 'captured' Britain's most senior politicians who were threatened with economic reprisals if the UK spoke out about the atrocities in Sudan by a UAE-backed militia known as the RSF. 🚨BREAKING: Gaza has become "an abbatoir where starving people are lured out through combat zones to be shot at", says Kit Malthouse MP. "If the situation were reversed, we would now be mobilising the British armed forces as part of an international protection force", he adds.
