Until 2020, Nigerian waters were the piracy capital of the world. The deployment of the Falcon Eye maritime domain awareness system fundamentally shifted that reality. A historic agreement with Turkey sees 200 Special Forces training slots allocated to Nigeria. Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Gwabin Musa, during an official visit to Turkey, held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler, and announced that both countries have agreed on joint defence production and the transfer of military technology. He also stated that Turkiye has allocated a training quota of 200 soldiers for Nigerian Special Forces. Stating that they would begin the deployment of soldiers as soon as he returned to Nigeria.
