You're a designer. Your company is 1,500 people. 99% of them are using AI. Anthropic visits. Your Claude Code usage is more than theirs. This happend to Diego Zaks who runs design at Ramp, the most AI-installed company I know. So I flew to NYC and to see for myself. Special episode of State of Play below.

Some of my favorite design studios are powered by AI creative directors. From Metalab to Iverson to Brett. Designers who have figured out how to bend different tools to produce incredibly memorable experiences. techbimbo is one of the latest examples of talented AI creative directors, and she's leading the way by sharing how she does it. She spent six months building a 5-principle framework she can rely on for learning new tools and shipping great work to clients. I talked to her about it on State of Play, and we get deep into her framework and the process she's using today. You'll want to check this one out:

I've spent the year studying how designers are exploring. Then the Karri Saarinen vs. Ryo Lu debate kicked off, and it captured everything I've been seeing this year. I sat down to write a 60 second video about it. 6 hours later I'd written something more. Reasonable hyperbole: this was the most important convo in design this year. Featuring: - Steve Ruiz - Andy Allen - Lee Black - floguo - rauno - weber - Tom Johnson - - basement.studio - Samraaj Bath ⚡️

My workflow now: - Design the first path in Figma - Hook up Claude Code to Figma MCP - Prompt: "Build this with Tailwind + Shadcn" - Then generate design system docs + demo page Side note: So many cool products being built, but I'm irrationally happy about a tabletop RPG scene manager.

There is a lot of slop on the internet. So I've spent more than $200k answering the question: What is taste? Not five minutes on cheap Twitter discourse, but consequential discovery. Our Colin and Samir ✌🏼✌🏾 documentary is live today. If you care about slower, more human, more ambitious work, please watch it all the way through. That attention is what lets us keep making these. What I learned about taste from Colin & Samir isn't being discussed online right now.
