We have launched a countrywide 10 days awareness campaign against postpartum hemorrhage (excessive bleeding after child birth) at Kigorobya HC IV, Hoima. Organized by the Bunyoro Local Maternity and Neonatal System, this event features participation from all district leaders and the Kingdom of Bunyoro. Bunyoro has faced the highest institutional maternal mortality for three years, along with performance management challenges and high teenage pregnancy rates, especially in Masindi. This awareness initiative aims to tackle these issues to improve maternal health. Thanks to the organizers, local leadership,health workers, VHTs, and community health workers for the proactiveness to reduce maternal mortality and enhance health in Bunyoro. #Bunyoro #PostpartumHemorrhageAwareness #MOHatWork

A bigger team of medics, two mobile laboratories, and logistics support is also en route to the DRC to join the Ebola fight. This joint Uganda-DRC initiative aims to strengthen the cross-border Ebola response by reducing the movement of Ebola patients into Uganda seeking care, curbing cross-border transmission, and ending the outbreak sooner.

At the Global NCD Alliance Forum in Kigali on Saturday, we discussed strategies to combat NCDs. I emphasised the importance of routine checkups for early detection of disease like Cardiovascular diseases i.e heart attacks and strokes, Cancers, Chronic respiratory diseases, Diabetes etc. This allows for timely management when the situation is still reversible, while late detection means late diagnosis which ends up in costly treatment, poor health, or even death. Prioritize your health. #PreventionIsBetterThanCure #MOHatWork #NCDs
