This was the last time I believed Essendon could contend for a flag. Anzac Day, 2013. We had just smashed Collingwood by 46pts, were 5-0 & ended the round rated 1st in both attack + defence. I reckon its also the last time we could actually defend the ground properly too. 🟥⬛️

Hirdy would be presenting very strongly to the interview panel on development & bringing in the very best people for all roles in the footy department. Good timing for an incoming coach, as it was revealed today that Essendon are actively looking for a Head of Development 👀

Didn’t realise that Elijah Tsatas needed to be one of the best players in the AFL in order to get a game for the worst midfield in the comp. He’s played 19 AFL games, 6 of which he was the sub & carries a career Time on Ground averaging 56%. Player mismanagement at its finest.

So glad Kane pointed this out. Watch Zach Merrett closely this year, it sticks out like a sore thumb. His lack of desire to defend & costly skill errors fkn HURT. I view most of his performances this year as stat padding until he can get himself traded out of the club.

Hirdy nails it here. Development has and always should be led by the senior coach. YES Brad Scott has done some positive things off field and brought about some much needed change. But nowhere near enough players develop or get better under his ‘world class’ football program.

Not sure if worst umpired in history, but there sure was some awful, filthy calls made against us that day at critical times of the game. Even some Pies supporters were admitting the umps were wearing black and white that day 😂 📸 - essendon.reels Instagram
