Steph Curry Drill: 5-10 shots, none of them the same. Don't worry about re-gripping it. Move your body, close your stance, open it. Get too far away from it, get too close to it. Stand on one leg. Move around and just let your body create the shot. If you ever watch Steph Curry warm up, this is what he does in basketball. This gets you out of internal swing thoughts and into the shot. I hit every one of these right on the sweet spot. Your subconscious when allowed to operate is powerful and using drills like this to develop. hand eye coordination will help you to just be an athlete on the course.

Because of this drill I tend to use my 56 degree for most chips. I do this 3 club chipping drill a lot. I like how it forces different feels, trajectories and requires me to react to the target. I will switch from 60 -> 56 -> 52 Same pin, different landing spots, spin and shot type. My practice data supports me using a 56 over a 60 on a lot of green side shots. This drill will help you to discover what is right for you.

Golfers: Wedge bounce and being able to flight it low. When the ground is soft the ball will tend to roll up the face getting higher and flying shorter than you think it will. Colorado is usually pretty dry and firm. We have had some storms lately and the ground is soft. I hit a lower bounce 60 degree which if I am not careful will dig causing the ball to roll up the face and come up short. Here are 3 things you can do to prevent this: -Use more club so for me my 56 and swing softer. -Ball back, steeper, more shaft lean. (Trap draw) -Use a higher bounce wedge for the current conditions. If this is happening to you it might not be your technique it is probably just your wedge setup. Understanding it can help you to work around it.

Yesterday a guy I have helped a bit here on X played and missed his State Am Qualifier by a few shots. He sent me a list of shots that cost him. Here is what you can learn as I talk through the scenario below. "Bad club choice on 1. Hit a 135 club to a 147 back pin. Had a flyer lie in the first cut and it didn’t jump like I planned. Hit a good bunker shot and missed a 5 footer. Led to Bogey. "

This test and how it plays out in the golf swing is exactly why I do at TPI Fitness evaluation before ever giving you swing advice. I have to know what the root cause is. This is a simple test you can do at home and and explanation of how it plays out in your golf swing. Let me know if you have any questions.
