I will never forget the piercing sound of the alarm and the announcement at 6:30 pm, “CODE BLUE Room 268!” It seemed like time stopped and accelerated simultaneously. March 6th, 2019 - my son, my first born, my only son took his last breath on a ventilator at 10:42 pm. Every parent of child loss knows the feeling. Tight chest. Tears flowing. Choking while trying to breathe. Can't think straight. Want to run away, but not knowing where. Wanting to scream, but knowing it won't help. I know my son is in a better place and that certainty soothes my aching heart, but it doesn’t take the pain away. Please pray for us today. RIP Joseph Onesiphorus Goffney II (12/21/1999 - 3/6/2019) #Forever19 💔

In 2019, I experienced the heart-wrenching loss of my son. In 2022, during my visit to Eisenhower HS, I had the privilege of meeting someone named Jordyn m.Grover who immediately reminded me of my son. This connection deepened in 2023 when I attended an event, and Jordyn warmly greeted me. Touched by the joy he radiates, I named him my honorary Superintendent. Throughout his senior year, Jordyn kept me updated on his endeavors via Twitter, bringing me so much joy. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Ranesia Davenport Edwards, M.Ed. |Doctoral Student and Jordyn’s mom for suggesting we take a picture together after his graduation. In that moment, overwhelmed with emotions, tears welled up in my eyes as thoughts of our dear Joe Jr. flooded my mind. The music started playing and we started dancing. Thankfully, my husband managed to capture this beautiful video, which serves as a testament to my immense pride in Jordyn’s accomplishments.
