🗣️ SHOULD YOU THROW IT DOWN THE MIDDLE? 🗣️ Rob Friedman posted a clip talking about this, citing Tangotiger 🍁 and myself. Generally before 2 strikes, I advocate a middle-middle target for a lot of pitchers. 🗣️ "If your stuff is bad, this doesn't work!" Stop having bad stuff. This is a problem you solve by improving your arsenal, not hoping good command solves terrible stuff. The former is much easier than the latter. 🗣️ "If hitters know you are targeting middle, the strategy is less effective!" True. Just like spamming sliders doesn't work anymore, you need to have some element of game theory to your approach. Still, natural variance of a zero-spot target means while middle is the MOST LIKELY spot you hit, you still hit it far less than you would think, because average miss distances of pro pitchers is north of a foot in any direction. tl;dr: don't have bad stuff, target middle-middle with < 2 strikes, earn the right to throw chase/waste pitches.
