Israel has to be able to defend itself, and the Iranians are saying, ‘Well, we’re not going to keep this deal unless the United States comes down hard on Israel and ties its hands.’ The prime minister cannot agree to that. No Israeli government can. The primary goal of any Israeli government is to defend its citizens and land.

For me, it’s déjà vu because it reminds me of 2015, when President Obama negotiated the JCPOA, the nuclear deal with Iran. Israel was also iced out of that negotiation. The United States did not share the details of those negotiations with Israel at the time, and here it appears to be happening again.

Hezbollah is pounding northern Israel, the Galilee… It’s being pounded daily by rockets and by drones. People are being killed, houses are destroyed, and people simply will not live in the northern part of Israel… So it’s not just a security issue, it’s a matter of the survival of the state, and Israel has to strike back.

The building shook not a little bit… Apparently a hundred rockets fired at Israel… Our missile defense systems—Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow 2 and 3—are about 90 to 95% effective… if Iran has fired a hundred rockets at us and five to seven have hit, that’s par for the course.

And so Israel saw Iran's ability to make a nuclear weapon within a matter of days as an existential threat. And at the end of the day, for Israeli leaders, it was a no-brainer. There was really no choice but to go ahead and do this, and do it in a way that would be a knockout punch.

It’s like Churchill in the 1930s—people said the danger didn’t pose an ‘imminent threat.’ Churchill’s answer was simple: what are you going to do, wait until it does? Iran’s regime isn’t hiding its aims, and it’s trying to acquire the means to act on them. Why would any country wait for that threat to become imminent?

Hamas, not Israel, deliberately kills its civilians. Hamas places its headquarters in mosques and schools and surrounds them with civilians. The goal is to get the world to accuse Israel of war crimes and impose a permanent ceasefire that assures Hamas’s victory. CNN Wolf Blitzer

Everyone’s missing the point. The 20-point plan isn’t a gift to Hamas—it’s a strategic victory for Israel. It meets our war aims, isolates Hamas, and brings Arab leaders on board. A rare case of diplomacy backed by power—restoring America's leverage in the region.

The war goals were always clear: dismantle Hamas, demilitarize Gaza, and bring our hostages home. The proposed peace plan reflects those goals precisely. If Hamas says no, Israel has the green light to act — and to finish the mission. This is a moment of rare clarity in diplomacy. The choice — peace or continued suffering — now lies entirely with Hamas.
