“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah. Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah. Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah. "The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him. Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

🚨 “He was blown to pieces right before my eyes. His schoolbag was still on his shoulder.” Israeli forces killed 14-year-old Palestinian student Mohammed Abu Hammad in a drone strike on Al-Baraka Street, south of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza shortly after he returned from school. Mohammed had stopped at his father's shop to look after it while his father ran an errand. “He hadn't even been sitting in the chair for five minutes,” Ahmed Muhareb told Drop Site's Mohamed Ahmed. “They fired a missile at the boy, while his schoolbag was still on his back.” At the hospital, people held up Mohammed's bloodstained schoolbag and notebooks, pointing to the shrapnel that had pierced them. His father wept over his son's body. “I swear, I was just talking to him,” he cried. “Mohammed was the one I depended on.” “This is a child. What did he do wrong?” Mohammed's sister, Malak Abu Hammad, said. Questioning the ceasefire, she asked, “Do they even know God, to be talking about a ceasefire?” “Is it not enough that you've forced us to live in tents? You've forced us to live in hunger and poverty. Why are you killing us?” Muhareb asked. Several other students were wounded in the attack, which also killed another Palestinian, the Palestinian Ministry of Education said. At least six Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since Saturday morning. 🎥 Mohamed Ahmed

Mahmoud Khalil urged pro-Palestinian protesters in New York to keep holding Mayor Zohran Mamdani accountable, but criticized those calling him a “genocide enabler,” warning that such accusations diminish the meaning of genocide. “That takes away so much from the word genocide,” Khalil said, comparing the accusation directed at the New York mayor to the way Israel’s supporters indiscriminately invoke antisemitism. Khalil acknowledged protesters’ frustrations, but urged activists to move away from “purity politics” and internal infighting, and instead focus on grassroots organizing, political education, and extending one another “some grace.” Palestinians being killed cannot wait for endless theorizing about liberation and revolution, he argued. The priority must be stopping U.S. weapons shipments to Israel. Ryan Grim | Mahmoud Khalil | محمود خليل

Drop Site's Ryan Grim asked Yemeni scholar Dr. Shireen Al-Adeimi about the ideological roots of Yemen's divide. Al-Adeimi explained how Ansar Allah emerged in Sa'dah resisting Saudi-funded Wahhabi schools, "fighting for the soul of Islam in Yemen." Today's southern separatists, she said, are not heirs to the revolutionaries who founded South Yemen, the Arab world's only Marxist state (1967–1990). They "would not have accepted UAE money" or Saudi money. Al-Adeimi, who said southern resentment toward the north runs too deep to overcome by force, also discussed how the war could end with southern autonomy, which Ansar Allah might accept but Riyadh likely won't. 🔗 Watch the full discussion at the link below. 🚨 “Where are we supposed to go?”: Israeli forces push the “yellow line” further into Gaza Displaced Palestinians are fleeing near Shujaiya intersection, east of Gaza City, after Israeli forces pushed the “yellow line” westward to within 10 meters of Salah al-Din Street, leaving residents inside the Israeli-occupied area. Drop Site contributor Mohamed Ahmed filmed families gathering their belongings and fleeing the camp. “There's nothing left for us to sleep on. Everything has been destroyed. They've devastated us,” Mohammed Al-Fayoumi said. “Where are we supposed to go? We flee west, and there's nowhere for us there. We flee east, and it's the same thing.” Anis Herzallah described the constant threat from Israeli military operations. “At night we have howitzers, quadcopters, tanks, Apaches and F-16s — all of them attacking us from the yellow line,” he said. “If we had somewhere else to take shelter, we wouldn't have come here.” “We're dying here every minute, every second,” Herzallah said. Osama Mushtaha said families had sought refuge in the camp because they had nowhere else to go, despite its lack of basic necessities. “The yellow line used to be approximately 200 meters away from us. This morning, it was only 10 meters away,” he said. 🎥 Mohamed Ahmed

🇵🇷 “For 128 years of U.S. rule, Puerto Rico has been a colony” Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic nominee for Congress in New York’s 13th District, marked the 128th anniversary of the July 25, 1898 U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico by calling for an end to American colonial rule and declaring her support for the island’s independence. U.S. troops landed at Guánica during the Spanish-American War, and Spain ceded the island under the Treaty of Paris without any input from Puerto Ricans. In 1900 the Foraker Act established that Puerto Rico “belongs to the United States, but is not the United States, nor a part of the United States,” a formula that has defined its status ever since. Congress imposed U.S. citizenship in 1917, months before Puerto Ricans were drafted into World War I, yet residents still cannot vote for president and have no voting representation in Congress. Avila Chevalier pointed to widespread poverty, recurring blackouts, the federal response to Hurricane Maria and the unelected fiscal oversight board known as La Junta, which was imposed by Congress in 2016 to restructure the island’s debt and holds power over its budget above the elected government. “I also support independence for the Puerto Rican people,” she said. “Because after 128 years, it’s the least the people on the island deserve.” 🎥 Darializa for Congress (via Instagram)

She says the aim is to sideline voices like Hasan Piker, Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, and elevate “charismatic” figures such as Alan Dershowitz and Dana Loesch who reflect “where the vast majority of Americans actually are.”

Marc Lamont Hill tore into Robert Kraft’s defense of barring Macklemore from Gillette Stadium, saying that treating“Free Palestine” as anti-Jewish echoes claims that Black Lives Matter was “anti-white.” Hill also explained how Kraft’s language about “innocent Palestinians” draws a line between Palestinians deemed worthy of sympathy and those who resist occupation: “They admire the ones that don’t throw the rock.” “The oppressor acts reasonable by saying, ‘Let’s split the pie.’ But it’s not your pie… every time I say, ‘How are we going to split the pie?’ I take another slice.” 🎥 Marc Lamont Hill on The JBP

“They will die from thirst. They will taste a little bit of what they have been doing to Yemen.” Speaking to Breaking Points, journalist Hussain Al-Bukhaiti warned that Yemeni forces could attack Saudi Arabia’s power stations and water plants if Riyadh continues its war. Al-Bukhaiti warned that continued Saudi attacks on Yemen could also bring a ground offensive into Saudi Arabia’s southern provinces. He said that Saudi strikes on civilian infrastructure serve no military purpose and fuel support for Ansarallah, pushing victims’ tribes to join the fight. He said Yemen’s demands have escalated from lifting the blockade and implementing the already negotiated UN roadmap to the “total liberation of Yemen” and an end to Saudi interference. If Yemeni forces enter Najran, Jizan and Asir, he warned, “we will not withdraw,” and demands would escalate further. Hussain Albukhaiti حسين البخيتي | Ryan Grim | Emily Jashinsky

A ProPublica investigation published September 22 found that the Department of Justice’s public corruption unit, just before it was gutted by President Donald Trump, was circling Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins after her campaign solicited illegal contributions from a Hawaii-based defense contractor. The company, Navatek, sent $150,000 to Collins’ super PAC through a shell company-amusingly named Society of Young Scientist and Engineers LLC-in exchange for $32 million in federal contracts funneled to the company shortly after. Collins appears to have been aware of and directly involved in the scheme: “Seven days after the super PAC cashed the check from [Martin] Kao's shell company, one of [Scott] Reed's subordinates emailed a Navatek lobbyist asking for Kao's phone number: ‘Senator Collins would like to call Martin to thank him,’” ProPublica wrote. The article also included a picture of the check sent to the super PAC and emails discussing the scheme to conceal the donation. Nevertheless, the Collins campaign said the allegations had already been investigated and there was no crime. Drop Site’s Julian Andreone went up to Capitol Hill to ask senators whether this reporting about their colleague’s corruption concerned them.

❓NBC News to Iran’s FM: “Sir, how can attacking U.S. military bases abroad be justified?” 💬 FM Araghchi: Because they are attacking us. These US military installations, facilities, bases are being used to attack us. We are under attack. Why don’t you, you know, recognize this this fact? We are under an attack from you. This is obvious. This is a very simple fact. I hope that, I am sure that people would understand that we are not the one who attacked Americans. We are defending ourselves.

🚨 Please read the following: About 100,000 Palestinians in Gaza hold letters from the Health Ministry confirming they need treatment abroad, but only 20,000 have been placed on the priority list. At least 2,027 patients, including 264 children, have died waiting for evacuation, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. As of October 15, Israel has allowed out just 7,215 travelers from Rafah in over one year, all patients and their companions, or about 25% of the number Israel said it would, which caps exits at 150 people a day, according to a document Palestinian negotiators gave the mediators today and Drop Site obtained. Gaza has only one MRI machine for roughly 1.8 to 1.9 million people, The Electronic Intifada reported, and Israel has blocked spare parts and a second machine from entering throughout the more than year-long “ceasefire.” “The only purpose of these decisions is killing,” journalist Asem Alnabih said. عاصم النبيه Asem Alnabih | Electronic Intifada
